It's been 3 years since Chad Harris released his debut album "New Life" and now he's anxious to release a new project with some brand new music! Currently in the middle of recording a six-song EP entitled "Burning Daylight", he is including some new fan favorites such as "Why Don't We Go", a crank-it-up type of tune that makes you just want to jump in the car and go for a drive. And "Burning Daylight", a melancholy breakup song that sings to the soul. "Sweet Mississippi" is possibly the most anticipated song on the EP, where he shares his memories of growing up in the south. The most intimate song on the project is "Bones", a love song with honest lyrics and raw emotion.
Through the songs on this EP, you can here pieces of his major influences such as Ryan Adams, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Ray Lamontagne, Amos Lee, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen. But somehow, his music stands unique in itself, pulling characteristics of his influences while also adding his own art and imagery.
Since his last album "New Life" was released, his sound has grown closer to a folk/americana feel but still carries plenty of his southern rock roots. Over the past several years, he's written over 100 songs with some of Nashville's great songwriters and has worked vigorously at continuing to get better at writing and storytelling. Many great songs were in the running for this project, but the six songs that have made it on this EP are the best of the best from his catalog.
