We are Eric and Florencia Fridman, a brother and sister duo who founded the Ceremonial Cacao brand Cacao Lab after Florencia discovered cacao ceremonies over 5 years ago. Today we are coming to you because we need your help. We are producing a short documentary about cacao ceremonies and the communities that keep this practice alive.
What we are doing
We are traveling to the heart of cacao culture, Guatemala, to develop a short documentary and shine light on the mystery and the magic behind cacao ceremonies and the guardians that maintain this sacred practice.
Why we are doing it
A long time before chocolate became industrialized, the Maya people used cacao as a heart opener and to connect with nature in order to understand its delicate balance and divinity. That is what happened to us and what propelled us to come to you to discuss this project. We believe the medicine of cacao and the burgeoning cacao culture can bring about the change necessary to save us from destroying our planet.
How will the funds be used
The initial $8,000 is all we need to cover the expenses for the trip, equipment and Kickstarter fees. Anything above this initial $8,000 will be donated to community projects that benefit the indigenous communities we encounter. We will update this project page with videos and images telling you about these projects as we go along on our journey.
We want to make this campaign as interactive as possible so during the trip we will update you with new rewards made by the communities we encounter and we want to hear from you! Ask us questions, make suggestions and get involved in what we are doing.
Risks and challenges
We will most likely reach our goal to cover travel expenses and be able to produce a beautiful short documentary and bring awareness to the communities that guard cacao. Beyond that, we hope to raise funds to help the communities we encounter with any community projects they are working on.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
