I’ve been a fan of comic books since I was a kid, so my first exploration into this style has its roots there. In 2011 I had the idea to do an art piece that showed the two sides of the Clark Kent/Superman character. I created the “Kent” piece, and uploaded it to my Tumblr and Society 6. Eventually, it was shared quite a bit, and I was happy to see that the style and idea resonated with a lot of people.
I began making more half and half pieces of comic book characters, and eventually ventured out into adding other characters from TV shows and video games.
In 2013 I was honored to show in the WonderGround gallery at Disneyland, and used my half and half style to do a piece of Rapunzel and Mother Gothel. This was also the year I began selling my fan art at comic conventions.
In the summer of 2015, I reworked my Arrow half and half for Stephen Amell’s upcoming WWE fight against Stardust. It was shared by Stephen himself, and I was honored to gain more fans and interest in my art. The piece was used on a shirt for a fundraising campaign, and over $200,000 was raised for a charity called Emily’s House in Canada.
I’ve gotten many great ideas from friends and fans on other pieces to make through the years, and I’m ready to get all the designs I’ve created into one place. I need your help to make that happen! Thank you for considering this project, and for your support of this art over the last 6 years.
Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges for this project are pretty low. The artwork in the book has already been created, the book is designed, laid-out, and is ready to be sent to the printer. All of the work on the book is complete. It just needs your help to be printed.
The rewards for this Kickstarter will be shipped separate from the book. Outside of the higher-tier commissions, all of the reward artwork is already created. Packing and shipping of the finished book along with rewards will be handled by me, and few family members and friends. Providing there's no issues with the book manufacturing/shipping, my goal is to have the book and rewards in backers hands in July 2017 (international orders may take a little longer due to customs and overseas shipping).
There is about a 10 week turnaround on production of the book that includes shipping from overseas. If the project is fully funded, and after payment is received (usually about 2 weeks after a successful Kickstarter ends) I will send everything off to be turned into a book!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
