I'm a senior at Bethany Lutheran College, graduating this December. My Senior Capstone is this short film. My goal is to create something that goes beyond everything I have learned in the classroom and make something that stays with the audience long after I have graduated.
Fenix began as a collaborative project between me and my dad. The script has changed a lot since its beginning stages last year, but when my father passed away in the spring I wanted to keep many of the ideas that he contributed.
The film is about Glen who works a rarely exciting job as a space courier with the pilot of his vessel who is also his closest companion and is also a Homing Pigeon. While delivering a legally questionable piece of cargo, they discover the contents and must decide what to do with it especially since it will effect Earth.
You can read an excerpt from my script here (will be a link to the pages)!
WHY THIS STORY?
I have always been drawn to Sci-Fi and yes, it was because of Star Wars. I have a love of film and I want this script and production to pull from all the classic sci-fi movies and all of the movies that have influenced me from Star Wars to It's a Wonderful Life and the films of David Lynch.
The goal is to create a film with a crew of fellow students that we are proud of and others enjoy watching and being a part of. The final 10-15 minute film will be entered into film festivals. I want to graduate with the experience of having created an amazing product that others love just as much as I do.
Updates to the production will be posted on my Production Blog and videos will be shared via vimeo
WHO IS INVOLVED?
You can be involved!
I've already worked with Jonathan Gomez Whitney to design and begin building the set. My friend and fellow student Aaron Evans has done some concept art with me and my wonderful fiancée Katie Shrader is helping me with pretty much everything.
I'll also be working with other students here at Bethany Lutheran College who will be updated in the Production Blog.
There is no way I could make this film well without your help. I'm excited to continue working on this project with more than just my own drive to make it happen!
...oh yeah...the first public showing is schedule to be December 13, 2012 in Mankato, Minnesota.
