A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Pets are great, but managing and grooming all their fur … not so much! Thankfully the team at Pet-Inno developed a new smart solution that makes pet grooming a cinch.
Introducing the InnoBrush
The InnoBrush is a lightweight, automatic pet groomer designed to take the hassle out of caring for your furry friend.
It comes with three interchangeable roller brushes for short, medium and long coats and comes with a vacuum adapter to connect to vacuum that sucks up any loose hair, dirt, dead skin and small insects while you brush your pet. The InnoBrush is equipped with a quiet, variable speed 12V motor and spins up to 1000 brush strokes per minute, giving you full power and control.
How the Product Works
InnoBrush comes with three interchangeable brush heads. Choose the one for your pet, push the button to power it on and hold the brush on your pet’s coat. Adjust the brushing speed by simply pushing the ON/OFF button back and forth. You may also connect a vacuum cleaner to it to suck up any loose hair, dirt, dead skin and small insects while brushing. Now let it do the work. When you’re finished, turn it off and open the dust collector for no fuss clean-up.
Benefits of the Product
With up to 1000 brushing strokes per minute, it allows you quickly and effectively brush your dog, regardless of the breed. Brushing speed is adjustable depending on your pet’s grooming needs.
One of the brush heads doubles as a massager. Massage is a great way for relaxing and bonding!
The vacuum action sucks up any messy loose hair, dirt, dead skin and small insects while you brush your pets. The connection to the vacuum makes for easy clean up.
With the InnoBrush, you can spend less time grooming your pets and clean-up the aftermath and spend more time playing with your pets.
The patent-pending InnoBrush is designed with the need of different dog breeds in mind. The easily interchangeable brush heads cater to the needs of dogs with short, medium and long coats. Knots and tangled hair are easily removed. It is also light and easy to handle, minimizing the time and efforts when compared to traditional grooming tools, allowing owners to do this at home with ease. The InnoBrush is designed to be pet friendly and produce very low noise. However, the vacuum cleaners available on the market are often a bit noisy and therefore some noise when connected to a vacuum cleaner is unavoidable.

Risks and challenges
With any project, there are issues that we do not know for certain. This is especially true with hardware projects. Although we have extensive experience in manufacturing and production management, unforeseen issues could arise from sourcing to manufacturing. We promise to do our best to manage them under any circumstances.
Here are some risks and challenges we faced on our journey to date:
1. Design: Many prototypes were made before we were satisfied.
The most challenging aspect was designing the custom-made motor that is torque-optimized yet small and light enough for encasing inside the InnoBrush. We tried using different materials when designing the motor and its parts in order to make it lighter but, at the same time, durable enough to withstand the friction and heat it generates. In the Prototype Gallery, a video showed the testing of an early prototype. The noise that it emits is far greater than the final product. We worked tirelessly to overcome this in order to make the noise as low as possible so that it would not startle pets.
Another challenge when designing the InnoBrush is the airflow in the vacuum function. Initially, we had a much narrower handle design for both comfort and aesthetics. However, this proved to be an issue as the narrow design did not provide enough room for airflow resulting in loose hair being trapped on the brush and inside the casing. Adding air inlet holes around the brushing chamber solved this problem.
Other challenges include designing the single button control function, the placement of the motor inside the casing and how it could all be incorporated to the ergonomic design for comfort and easy manoeuvring.
2, Manufacturing: Although we are seasoned technical people in manufacturing and production management, there may still be unexpected issue when it comes to manufacturing. Sourcing different materials is one and availability is another. Our aim is to produce a high quality product. We did encounter some minor issues in the early stages. However, we are now confident that the manufacturing aspect for InnoBrush is secured. In case of any issues that could arise in the future, we have steps and solutions in place to resolve them. We will make sure the quality of the products shipped out is of industry benchmark and beyond.
3, Shipping: When working with a third-party shipping company, there could be issues with logistics that hinder the product from being delivered on a timely matter. We have contacted many shipping companies to find the best partner that we are satisfied with in terms of service and capability.
Rest assured that we have been thinking about all of the challenges we faced in the design, manufacturing and logistics. We have consulted with other Kickstarter veterans on the challenges they faced in their campaigns. We have a well-prepared game plan for InnoBrush. Our goal is to improve the wellbeing of your pets and owners to save time and money.
