About this project
Good News! We've made our goal AND you can still back Ultrasylvania, Vol. 3, add-on items to your pledge, and help us strive toward some pretty cool Stretch Goals! Read on for more details....
ULTRASYLVANIA is a comic series in which Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster are world leaders. It's a world fraught with danger, mystery, and deception, where political power, back-stabbings, and manipulation clash with matters of the heart. This volume broadens the scope of our tale, visiting the distant past, taking our characters farther into their futures than ever before, and presenting them with a threat that could spell the end of their world as they know it.
If you're just discovering ULTRASYLVANIA, don't worry. While you can read Volume 3 as a stand-alone book, you can also receive the first two volumes at the $25 level.
Click the MANAGE YOUR PLEDGE button at the upper right. Then, adjust the dollar amount of your pledge to incorporate the add-ons of your choice from the list below. Example: You pledged the MONICA DISHER VARIANT for $40, but you'd like a copy of Vol. 1 as well. Vol. 1 is offered as a $5 add-on, so your new - managed - pledge is $45.
When our Campaign has ended, we will be in touch with you via the Kickstarter Survey function. At that time, we will verify with you your Add-Ons.
Written by Brian Schirmer and edited by Jeremy Saliba (Dynamite's WHEEL OF TIME), ULTRASYLVANIA, VOL. 3 was produced in cooperation with the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. The hand-picked students working herein represent the next generation of comic professionals. As they prepare to enter the industry, this project provides each of them with a published calling card and a leg-up in this competitive marketplace.
ULTRASYLVANIA has been unfolding as a webcomic since May 2012. A pair of successful Kickstarter campaigns followed, allowing for the publications of Volume One and Volume Two. We've now returned to Kickstarter to make it three-for-three.
This 100-page first edition will also include concept art, character designs, page roughs, early layouts, and much more - taking you behind-the-scenes and giving you an inside look at the various processes of the artists.
It is only through your generous support that we can make this a reality. But, we need more than just your backing - we need your voice. Help us get the word out. Take to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr. Email your friends. Share the link to this page.
All monies raised will go towards:
- Printing 1000 copies of the book (printing in the USA)
- Printing costs of rewards (postcards, prints, etc.)
- Kickstarter/Amazon fees (roughly 9% of final funding)
- Postage and shipping supplies
- Any applicable taxes
Once again, should we exceed our funding goal, we'll be able to unlock some Stretch Goals - added "Thank Yous!" to all you folks who made it happen. Now, on to....
Want to know a little more about how this project came together? Well, back in January, Brian and Jeremy were invited to speak at Google as part of their Authors at Google series. You can watch the entire presentation right here.
Risks and challenges
All of the artwork is complete. The book will be sent to the printer during our campaign, and we will announce when that occurs. While we will be using an established company in the USA, sometimes things happen that cause delays. In the unlikely event that something does go awry, we'll not only keep you in the loop with open and honest communication, but also do everything in our power to make it right as quickly as possible.
Finally, your assistance in spreading the word about our campaign via Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, or - in the spirit of the season - arcane ritual, will be greatly appreciated.
