Reezos began when co-founder Reese Wilson had a conversation with one of the other receivers on the football team at Vanderbilt. Reese listened to his teammate share about how important sports are for the kids in his hometown. “Ball means everything to the kids in my neighborhood. Without it, they’ve got nothing.” His teammate explained that if it weren’t for football, he wouldn’t have even tried to go to college. But because of the sport, he had coaches and teammates who pushed him to be better in the classroom and on the field. Reese never forgot this conversation; he knew he had to do something.
Over the next few months, we (Reese & Logan Dunn) began brainstorming and researching ways in which we could use sports and education to impact the futures of inner-city kids. Partnering with non-profit organizations driving change in local communities would be the answer. Shoes would be the means.
We found that, traditionally, shoes are sold to retail stores at a reduced wholesale price. Retail stores then markup the price (often by 100% or more) and sell shoes to customers. We knew there had to be a better way. By selling exclusively online, we avoid retail markups, and the savings can be put toward various projects working to develop youth sports and education in the inner city. So, that’s exactly what we have set out to do. We designed awesome shoes, created prototypes, and now we’re introducing them to the market.
By contributing to our Kickstarter, you will not only receive great rewards, but you will be a part of launching a company that is using shoes as a means to develop sports and education for students who need it.
Throughout our year-long design process, we focused on creating unisex athleisure shoes that are comfortable, clean, and versatile. And that's exactly what we did.
The Reezos One is the perfect shoe for everyday use. Wear them on a date or to the gym. Go to class or to the movies. No matter what the occasion, you can wear Reezos Ones — Reese even wore the prototypes at his wedding.
Our knit upper is lightweight, breathable, and comfortable.
Our rubber outsole ensures that your shoes are built to last.
Memory Foam Insole
Our memory foam insole contours to your foot to provide maximum comfort and support. If your foot could say thanks, it would.
EVA Foam Midsole
The EVA foam midsole is the perfect balance of cushion and support so your Reezos Ones are comfortable to wear all day.
Whenever we sell a pair of shoes, 20% of our revenue will automatically be set aside for our current Give 20 Project supporting youth sports and education. We have chosen to give a portion of our revenue, not our profit, because we want you to know exactly where your money is going. The amount we set aside for our projects does not change based on our margins. It is simple and straightforward. Give 20.
We label Give 20 on the insole of every pair of Reezos. That way, every time someone puts on a pair of Reezos, they’ll remember that they are supporting something more than just their feet.
**Please understand, it is our mission to contribute 20% of our revenue toward developing youth sports and education in the inner city. But, since Kickstarter does not allow projects that raise money for causes, we have an anonymous donor who will contribute $10,000 (20% of our goal) to complete our first Reezos Project if we reach our Kickstarter goal. To be in compliance with their rules, no funds raised on Kickstarter will be put toward BIM.
How We Make Our Shoes
Over the past year, we have gone back and forth with our manufacturer, testing prototypes, iterating, and retesting. Today, we have a product we are proud of.
In the footwear industry, nearly all the major shoe brands outsource their manufacturing. They design shoes, work with factories all around the world to produce the shoes, and then purchase the finished product from these partners.
In the long term, we plan to set up manufacturing in developing countries as a means of economic growth. However, the equipment needed to set up our own manufacturing is simply too expensive for us at this point. So, we are going to start by operating like the rest of the industry and grow from there.
We have been working with our partner in China (shout out to Corbin Zhou) to make the prototypes for the Reezos One. Corbin works for Quanzhou Guomao Shoe Materials Co, which is certified by SGS, a third party inspection firm, to have fair compensation and working conditions for its employees. If this Kickstarter is successful, we will be able to move forward with them in the production process.
Our mantra is “For the Team.” Everything we do is for the team - the kids we support, our people, our partner organizations, and our customers. While individual achievement is great, we believe that being a part of the team is the best part of sports. That is our guiding principle. That is what we want our brand to stand for. For the Team.
With this Kickstarter campaign, we are both launching our shoes and launching our company. We think that our shoes stand toe to toe with anything on the market, but our social mission is what really makes us special. Reese and Logan both grew up playing sports. The experiences we had competing alongside our teammates shaped who we are as people. Like they were for us, we believe sports can be powerful and formative in the lives of young people, especially in conjunction with academics. The tandem approach of sports and education provide many students a necessary outlet. Coaches and teammates can push them to excel on the field, in the classroom, and at home.
Our First Partner - Backfield in Motion
We have started by partnering with Backfield in Motion, or BIM — a nonprofit organization in Nashville that uses athletics as an incentive for academic improvement. BIM aims to develop literacy and numeracy skills that lead to graduation, higher education, and readiness for the world of work by providing after school and summer programming for elementary, middle, and high school students. BIM provides academic instruction and tutoring from certified teachers as well as coaching in whichever sports are in season for the youth in the program.
We have worked with BIM to identify how we can best come alongside them and help their students flourish. One of BIM’s primary goals is to get the students in their program to read. What they have found is that their students are much more likely to read a graphic novel (basically, novel length comic books) than read traditional literature. However, they are running out of graphic novels. So, our first Give 20 Project will be to provide BIM with graphic novels for them to distribute to their students. If we reach our funding goal, a donor will contribute the funds to complete this initial Give 20 Project.
Logan and Reese first met at two-a-day football practices in the summer before high school where they quickly became friends. In both high school and then college, they remained close as Reese consistently dominated their fantasy football league. Logan went on to Oklahoma University where he majored in advertising and was a manager for the football team. He now works as a math teacher. Reese graduated from Vanderbilt University with degrees in Human & Organizational Development and Math. During his sophomore year, Reese walked-on to the football team. His career culminated in getting in for one play at the end of a game and blocking the wrong guy. #excellence But hey, Reese was an SEC football player and Logan is a Sugar Bowl champion (sorta).
We are just a pair of recent college graduates who love sports. When paired with an academic emphasis, we truly believe sports can be invaluable in the lives of students. We are by no means experts in the shoe industry, but we have done our research, worked hard to develop our first product, and constructed a plan to grow and sustain our company.

We will be sure to update you as we journey through the production process, especially if there are any delays.
Producing shoes is expensive. All in, purchasing our initial inventory costs about $40,000. Our goal of $50,000 will be able to cover all our costs (i.e. Kickstarter fees and shipping).
We realize this is not a small feat. That’s why we are looking for the support of the Kickstarter community to make Reezos happen. We believe that this is the first step to becoming the world’s most loved shoe brand, and we need you to be a part of it. Join the Team.
Because there are limitations on the quantities we can order of each size shoe, we have had to limit the sizes we can offer of each shoe. We will be able to provide men’s shoes from US size 6 to 13 and women’s size 6.5 to 12.5.
To ensure the best size, we recommend everyone measure their foot and use the charts below.
1) Place a sheet of paper on the floor with the end touching the wall.
2) Put one foot on the paper, making sure your heel is all the way against the wall.
3) Mark the end of your big toe on the paper.
4) Measure the distance between the end of the paper and the mark you made—we recommend using centimeters for the most accurate fit.
5) Use the chart to find your US size.
If you land between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size if you like a snug fit, and choosing the larger size if you like a more relaxed fit.
We will do whatever we can to make sure that your Reezos fit how you want them to. We offer free exchanges in the United States. If you have questions, please reach out.

Risks and challenges
We understand what it will take to get our shoes produced and into the market. However, we cannot predict the future. There are likely things that we may not be expecting that affect completion of the project. We'll be sure to keep you updated about any obstacle that we face. Here are the potential roadblocks we have identified.
Manufacturing Partner in China - We have partnered with them throughout the entire design process, but there are still some risks of delay or quality control issues. We trust them because they have worked with other major shoe brands, but unforeseen issues could arise.
Import challenges - Having never dealt with shipping a bulk order of shoes, we could run into customs and tax challenges. This is amplified by the recent US tariffs on Chinese goods. As of now, the tariff changes will not affect our shoes, but this could change and hinder the shipping process.
Shipping and Delivery Costs - We have included shipping in our cost breakdown, but there may be surprise costs that we have not anticipated. There is always a risk when sending something through a delivery company.
Sizing - We have tried to make finding the correct size as easy as possible, but it is definitely possible that when your shoes arrive, they will be too big or too small. We hope this doesn't happen, but we offer free exchanges within the United States, if there are any issues.
Achieving Our Social Mission - While we have found a way to still contribute 20% of revenue toward a Give 20 Project, continuing to deliver on our social mission requires Reezos to be a sustainable business. If we reach our funding goal, we will continue to work towards sustainability to achieve our social mission.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
