Crafted is Bringing Gourmet Dessert Sauces to a Shelf Near You!
After an incredible first year in the dessert business we're looking to sweeten the stakes and develop an assortment of shelf-stable sauces to enhance our product line. Just like our current menu of confections, each sauce will be handcrafted locally, packed with tasty high-quality ingredients, and feature a loving dose of whimsy.
Life happens - impromptu dinner parties, random family movie nights, a case of the Mondays - how will you be prepared for a sudden sweet-tooth onset? Not only will our line of Crafted sauces elevate unplanned treats to a heavenly level of deliciousness, they will also open up new retail opportunities increasing the convenience for our fans!
We hope you all join us and get saucy with Crafted!
Recipe for Success
By achieving our funding goals, Crafted will be able to...
1.) Complete Development of Crafted Sauces
Includes research and development needed to create up to six sauces: two core caramel recipes, two core chocolate recipes, one seasonal caramel recipe and one seasonal chocolate recipe.
2.) Acquire Shelf-Stable Certification
Includes submission and testing fees associated with certifying all recipes with the Washington State Department of Agriculture.
3.) Improve Crafted Online and Retail Presence
Includes refresh of brand design, packaging design, website design and professional product photography. Once design is finalized we will pursue new wholesale opportunities to gain placement of Crafted sauces on grocery, retail, and boutique shelves. Funds will also be used to increase our presence and production at Farmer's Markets in the greater-Seattle area.
4.) Enhance Catering Program
Utilize additional capital to finalize the Crafted catering program, including the purchase of rental serving-ware, equipment, and decor in addition to the development of marketing materials to promote the program.
Few things warm the heart, comfort the soul, and inspire more smiles than a well-crafted treat. We strive to achieve this dream of bite-sized happiness by combining quality, local ingredients with a giant scoop of love. We hope your family enjoys our whimsical spin on classic desserts.
Every delectable Crafted confection is imagined and created by Whitney Heinrich of Woodinville, Washington. A Seattle native and graduate of New York's French Culinary Institute, Whitney developed her pastry philosophy working in Seattle's most beloved restaurants including Restaurant Zoe, Salty's on Alki, and Hot Cakes: Molten Chocolate Cakery. She dreams of delighting palates everywhere with her darling, handcrafted desserts.

Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge facing a food business is securing all of the required licenses, permits, and commercial kitchen space - thankfully we've already completed all of this!
Now that the hard part is done, the primary challenge we face is time. It will require a decent amount of time create the recipes, send them for testing, and receive approval. However based on the research we've done, there is ample time to achieve all of this prior to the 2014 season. Also, our business will not be adversely affected should certification arrive late - we will still be able to sell all previously approved confections during the market season.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
