We reached our $2,000 goal in only 5 days!! Great work everyone! Realistically though, we still need to raise at least another $1,000 to cover all costs! Our new goal is $3,500! This project is just getting started! Please everyone re-post this project on their Facebook and Twitter!!

This summer, I will be traveling to Amatongas, Mozambique with 10 other volunteers. We will be volunteering at a local school and while we are there, we will be remodeling an infirmary, building a playground and teaching a week-long health class. We also plan on filming our group's interaction with the school and local members of the village. This film will tell the story of Amatongas, focus on our group's impact on the community and will highlight local living conditions.

Infirmary

Our first project, remodeling the infimary, will be the highest priority. We will be remodeling an old room (pictured below) and furnishing it with the necessary medical equipment needed. This infirmary will provide basic health attention to the school's boarders and local members of the community.

Playground

The playground we will be building will serve as entertainment for the children in Amatongas. Aside from a basketball court and soccer field, they don't have too many options for entertainment. Their personal toys are also limited:

Health Class

Finally, we will be teaching a week-long health class to the local students. This class will teach basic hygiene to the children and hopefully improve their overall living conditions.

Short Film

The funds from Kickstarter will be put towards the total cost of the camera equipment and professional editing for our short film. The cost for the equipment alone is estimated at close to $3,000. This film will not be possible without Kickstarter's help. If carried through, this film will be completed over the 2012/2013 winter break.
