About this project
This is the first ever film to explore the fascinating world of Miniature Wargaming, which is played by millions of people across the globe. The featured film will contain exclusive interviews & stories from industry leaders such as Rick Priestley, Alan & Michael Perry, John Stallard and Paul Sawyer. Representatives from Warlord Games, 4Ground, Wargames illustrated, Hawk Games and many more leading companies in the sector.
About The Film
I have been working along side some of the leading companies in the Wargaming industry. They have agreed to allow me to go behind the scenes, grant me exclusive interviews, featuring personal stories and to document their creative processes. This will enable viewers insights into the journey from idea through manufacture and marketing that brings their games to your table top.
I will also be following two rookie gamers who will be entering into competitive tournament gaming for the first time. See how they prepare together, train together and then put their friendship aside to see who comes out on top.
Plus exclusive interviews with some of the most experienced gamers in the world who will share tips on how to win!
The film will also include interviews with many other people who support the hobby, such as youtubers, commission painters and independent retailers. An exclusive arrangement has been agreed with Warlord Games to document the process from concept, design, the many stages involved in manufacturing and marketing miniatures.
A limited edition and special feature miniature of one of the most famous gamers, the author H.G. Wells, who wrote one of the first ever gaming rule sets, will be produced and available only via this Kickstarter. Permission has already been granted to support this initiative.
Why am I on Kickstarter?!
I've come to Kickstarter to raise some extra money to fund this film, to date preparation for the film has been funded by myself (Joseph Piddington the creator and director) but has become a larger commitment than I first thought. Therefore I now need to raise money to help turn my vision into the final production of the film.
In exchange for your support and pledge I will be delighted to share my experience in producing this fascinating film and offer exclusive rewards. Without your support this film may never be created!
How will the money be spent?
The money will be used in many different ways:
Most of the people making this film are experienced professionals who are giving their time for free, how ever, I will have to pay expenses to get them to numerous locations.
Transporting equipment to the sets is not cheap as it is fragile and requires funding along with insurance. Whilst I already own a lot of the equipment required to make this film I will also need to invest in some specialist equipment.
I want this film to not only contain amazing material but look and sound stunning, I will be getting the film professional colour graded and will be working with a composer to create all the music for the film. Unfortunately this requires money I do not have.
I want this film to be entered into as many film festivals as possible but this cost money, it can range from $20 to $300 to have your film submitted into a festival. If the film is accepted into a festival it can really help to establish the film and increase its circulation. The more people that view the film and realise what an amazing hobby this is the more gamers there will be!
Finally I'm working with some amazing artists to help create the cover art and promotional material in support of the film "Miniature Wargaming The Movie".
Production Team ("The Crew")
I have managed to secure the support of an extremity experienced team to help make "Miniature Wargaming The Movie" a reality. They are drawn from across the United Kingdom but share my passion for this documentary.
The core equipment is already available and includes state of the art 4K video recording and ultra high definition film and video. Additional equipment will be purchased, using pledge money, to ensure a high quality production and finished product.
The team will be working with an independent studio to edit and overlay the bespoke sound track.
The studio will be using both Adobe Premier CC and After Effects to perfect the edit before forwarding to the composer and colour grader. This should ensure state of the art quality is delivered in the final film.
This is one of the most important ways of promoting the final movie. We will be seeking to enter "Miniature Wargaming The Movie" into numerous film festivals around the world. If successful this will increase awareness of this fascinating and exciting competitive hobby.

Risks and challenges
Documentary filmmaking is about being flexible—finding creative solutions to obstacles. We've already encountered challenges, and learned to be persistent to make the film we want you to see.
There's no turning back now—this film will be made! If a setback manages to delay production, the reward might get put back a few months, however, we have already done most of the leg work lining up interview's and location's to start filming.
Some of the rewards do have external companies involved to make the physical film and miniatures but we are using well established companies to do this to keep every thing on track, we will also make sure we keep everyone up to date throughout the process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
