This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Mon, November 19 2018 11:51 AM UTC +00:00.
I hope you enjoyed the video. The book that you see there was a working copy but it is now complete. This will be the third Children's book that I have self-published but the first one that I have crowd funded. High Low Fast Slow is a book of animal opposite rhymes with added facts for clever minds.
It can be read as a simple rhyming book if you are reading to a young child but also has some interesting facts about the animals it mentions, which I thoroughly enjoyed researching.
As my daughter (now 5) has grown older my books have been in sync with her abilities and learning.
However now that I am due to have twin babies I have tried to create a book that will appeal to younger children as well as my nearly six year old.
I also tested some facts on my step sons aged 9 and 12 and their friends and they found them really interesting too.
Hopefully even the grownups will learn something... I certainly did!
As far as the format goes, this will be a 23 by 23 cm matte book with 24 pages printed on 170gsm arcoprint paper.
Like all of my books it will be printed in Bristol and sold only in small independent retailers, at arts and crafts markets and on line.
As you can see here from the pictures, many of my rewards are original framed paintings from the book.
I have set my target at £1200 but the cost of printing the book is double this so I'm hoping that we can beat our target.
As its the first time I have done crowdfunding I don't want to set my target too high though just in case!
Risks and challenges
I have set my target at £1200 but it costs £2400 to print the book. That's OK though because anything over £1200 that I don't raise I will put in myself.
The content of the book is finished (although the video does shows an earlier version) and the cover is almost finished so there is no risk that the project won't be completed.
This will be the fifth time I have used the Bristol printers who will be printing and binding the book. I used them for the first edition of 1000 and second edition of 2000 of both of my other books. They have always delivered a perfect product exactly on the time scale they promised.
I have roped in a team of willing family members to help me post out the books and pictures to all of you who fund my project so no worries there either.
