About this project
The Rose City Coffee project entails the construction of a portable coffee bar to craft and teach the art of coffee. Since the shooting of our video, our vision for the coffee bar has grown to include a portable coffee bar that will allow us to not only serve the craft coffee in our cafe but also in various places within the city of Pasadena.
We named our portable Bar ROSIE and she will be used to train transitional aged and homeless youth in the craft of coffee. She will be equipped so that we will be able to offer the highest form of coffee and be competitive with surrounding craft coffee shops in Los Angeles. Further, we will be raising up the next wave of barista's to carry the art of coffee forward.
In order to get ROSIE ready and beautiful, we need
- La Marzocco Espresso Machine
- Two Coffee Grinders
- Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System
- Hot Water Heater
- New Coffee Bar built into a refurbished coffee cart
- Coffee cups and utensils
At Rose City Coffee it is our vision to see the lives of homeless and transitional aged youth change through the communal craft of coffee. We see young people, who have not been given the same chances as you and others, spending time with our team to learn the trade and craft of 3rd wave coffee. We also see a staff committed to caring for our young baristas; instilling in them a passion for crafting the perfect cup of coffee. We also envision a place where community flourishes and people are given space and support to dream of new ways of transforming our local community.

| Coffee – Attention to detail is often overlooked, which is why we focus on superior quality that we feel confident standing behind. To us, coffee is an art form, which is why partnering with Handsome Coffee Roasters was a necessary move for us in order to uphold unmatched quality.
| Change – Transitional aged youth are emerging as the largest homeless population in Los Angeles. We intentionally seek partners that connect us with homeless youth in need of employment. By providing the youth with a job, we hope to see their lives changed through the craft of coffee.
| Community – Some may argue that coffee holds no magic properties, but we believe in it's ability to bring people together in accordance. Community is the driving force for what we do–striving together with a shared challenge, mission, and vision.
With your help, ROSIE will be up and running on August 6th. Thanks for your support and don't forget to visit us later this summer.
