They live there, far below the town. How many there are we don't know, but at night the sounds of shuffling in the deep drifts up through cracks and fissures to torment our dreams. There is no peace in the darks, for the verminous gnawlochs and aquatic bucca cannot tolerate each other and they live at constant war. We count ourselves lucky, for whilst they feud in the damp caverns under our feet our own paths are at least free from their ravages. For now at least.
Continuing to develop miniatures lines to complement The Woods: A Folklore Fantasy Wargame we present two new factions- the ratlike gnawlochs and piscene bucca.
We're taking these to Kickstarter in order to fund the production run and hopefully generate some extra to put into the hardback rulebooks due for publication shortly. These creature concepts were created by the illustrious Tony Hough who we were delighted to have produce illustrations for the book.
How does it work?
Simply pick your pledge level based on what you would like- a single miniature, set of 3 miniatures or 5 sets (15 miniatures). Then you can choose extras from the list of add-ons, adding the amount shown to your pledge.
There are a number of stretch goals which will be available as add-ons when the goal is reached.
All these miniatures are approximately 28mm tall, will be cast in lead pewter by our friends at Macrocosm and are supplied without bases. The gnawlochs shown painted have already been mastered, the miniatures shown in their 'green' sculpted form will be on their way to be cast over the duration of the campaign.
What if I've pledged for the Mummers or Goblignomic Wars Kickstarters?
No problem. We can either delay posting your other miniatures until these are ready (and save on postage) or ship separately, whichever you prefer.
Gnawlochs are a race of ratmen who live in the caverns under Talamhlar known as the Powell Darks. They are secretive but mercantile, smuggling their wares through flooded tunnels on their barges. In the caverns of the Darks they have built ingenious locks and sluices so that they can tow their crafts from the mountains to the sea.
Set A: Warriors. Three clan-rats with assorted weaponry and armour.
Set B: Muskrath. Three gnawlochs with gnawloch muskets.
Set C: Characters. A clan-rat chief, slaver and merchant.
Bucca live in the deep sea off the coast of Talamhlar. They have some dark and evil religion which demands blood sacrifice and so raiding parties venture inland to abduct victims. They would dearly love to use the Powell Darks for their marauding as they cannot stand to be out of the water for too long and the cool, watery caverns make a perfect network of roads for them. The gnawlochs, however, put up a rigorous defence and have, so far, repelled their efforts.
Set D: Raiding party. Three bucca on land and ready to grab some victims!
Set E: Submerged bucca. Three fish-men emerging from the water.
To add extra sets (as shown above) to your pledge simply add £7 per set. To add individual miniatures to your pledge add £4 per miniature from the following:
£4- Gnawloch shaman
To receive Niblick just add £4 to your pledge.
Once we've collected details of your pledge we'll calculate shipping and invoice you when your miniatures are ready to ship. We use Royal Mail signed and tracked services, but if you order a large amount outside the UK we will look into other trusted couriers to get the price as low as possible for you. As a guide shipping to the UK for a dozen figures is normally £3-4, £10-15 for Europe and £15-20 for USA, Canada and Australia.
Risks and challenges
Oakbound Studio is no stranger to Kickstarter, or to producing miniatures. We have 5 years' experience as a miniatures manufacturer and decades of hobby time behind that. We have worked successfully with Macrocosm Miniatures who are doing the casting for this project, you may recognise them from many other fun kickstarters that have been successful in recent years. Master moulds for some sets have already been made, the others will be arranged once the initial target has been met. We recognise, of course, that with the best intentions things can go awry and will let you know as soon as we do if there is a hiccup with production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
