My name is Tim Briggs and I’m the founder of Folk Hymnal. We have some wonderful, new Christmas and worship music we would like to send out into the world…and we would love your help!
Last year, I was at a place where I realized I’m a no talent, hack musician who had been writing worship songs for a while—some of which were pretty good—but I had no way of getting them out into the world. As I like to say, I have a face for radio and a voice for the shower. Anyway, I came up with this crazy idea…what if I collaborate with my artist friends who are great and help make these songs come to life. The result was Folk Hymnal—a collection of artists who create theologically rich songs in an accessible and attractive way. I worked with four different artists on four different songs and we released a Christmas EP called Incarnation Songs.
And, I think it went great! I mean, my wife liked the songs, my kids, my mom—pretty much anyone related to me liked the songs. Seriously though, the whole process exceeded my expectations. The songs turned out great and they were received really well. My highest aim with this music is to create songs that could be sung by the local church and I received reports from churches around the country that they were singing these songs.
My role as co-writer and producer of Folk Hymnal has gone so well that I want to keep it going. I have some more original, Jesus-y, folky, non-traditional Christmas songs that I would like to release into the world that would come together into an EP called Incarnation Songs Volume 2. Additionally, I have a whole other EP of songs I’d like to release in 2020 that I’m tentatively entitling Good News Songs.
So, I’m terrified…and excited. Would you join me on this terrifying, exciting journey?
Once again, I'm aided by some amazing friends and artists.

Risks and challenges
Money is a challenge but you can help overcome that challenge by supporting the campaign!
Additionally, as the co-writer and producer of these songs, I am dependent upon the artists and their schedule to record. We have firm plans to record the Christmas music this summer and release it by Thanksgiving. Additionally, we have plans to record the 2020 EP late in 2019 and early in 2020. No firm date has been set for its release but we are tentatively shooting for the spring. Recording schedules could push that date back.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
