Hi friends, we’re Places Back Home, also known as Chris, Robert, Collin, and Bailey. We’re a band from Colorado that started when we were all students at Colorado State University and needed an outlet to deal with the stress of studying and express the unique experience of being human in a world full of love, joy, heartbreak, pain and questions.
The name ‘Places Back Home’ comes from the fact that we all come from different places, and we wanted our music to capture the feelings of our formative experiences of the past, and the raw reality of creating our own home wherever we are.
In 2017 we released our sophomore EP, “Falling Apart.” Since then, we have grown immensely and written a number of new songs that we believe showcases this progress. Three of the best of these new songs will make up this follow up EP. Our goal with this one is quality. We want to create the most high quality music we possibly can that long-time fans, friends, and new listeners alike can enjoy and experience together.
With quality comes cost; your donations will go directly to funding studio time at the renowned Blasting Room studios in Fort Collins, CO, the sonic home of albums by well known acts Rise Against, The Descendents, NOFX, Flobots, My Body Sings Electric, Stick To Your Guns, Air Dubai, Lydia & more. In addition to studio time, donations will go directly toward the costs associated with mixing, mastering, and distribution to reach as many new audiences as possible with this new record.
Life’s challenges, growth, victories, and pain are experiences none of us are exempt from. These songs are our way of pressing on when at the same time everything and nothing makes sense. Our hope is that in sharing our raw and honest experiences, others might in some way find the courage to press on, too. Our goal is to pour out our wanderings through love, hope, sorrow, shame, and everything in between.
Sure, every kid who plays music dreams of making it, but to us music is and always has been more than dreams of grandeur. We make music to move people and build bridges between others in a way that very few things can. We want to build relationships with anyone and everyone we meet, and to remind people it’s okay to not be okay.
Any gift to us is the ability to keep creating something that means so much to us. Every donation represents someone that has been in some way impacted by what we do or believes in what we have to share, and we are incredibly honored to be able to be supported in this way. Thank you, Places Back Home family, for sharing in this journey with us.
Risks and challenges
Some challenges that come with creating music and the recording process is that you can always predict how long it will all take but that timeline can be changed significantly if certain songs, ideas, and sounds are not falling into place as you expected. We want to provide you all with the highest quality recording possible and that can take time. However, to account for that, we have given ourselves extra time to ensure that we will be able to complete all that we need and bring it to you! Our plan is to be in the studio by late February/early March at the latest which gives us at least 2 and a half months to have everything recorded, mixed, mastered, and have the Kickstarter rewards ready for distribution.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
