A short film about a man who tries to cope with loss and deal with depression.
Chuck is a story about a man who goes through life searching for ways to cope with the loss of his loved ones. On a day which was supposed to be the happiest day of his life, Chuck fell into deep depression. He is unable to escape the emotional pain from the event that has disconnected him from the world.
Chuck continues on with his everyday life because he is afraid to end it, even though suicide seems like a better option. He has read book after book on how to cope and move on, but still ends up at the bottom of a bottle without an answer. As he grooms himself for work one day, he notices a lipstick container in his medicine cabinet is empty. He decides to go out into the world and purchase a new one. While he is out, he is shunned and ridiculed by people who wonder why he has a lipstick container, a container that holds a clue to his sadness.
Our goal is to create awareness for people silently going through a depression. We hope that they are able to relate to Chuck in someone way, and realize that there are others out there who also hide their sadness behind a fake smile.
Julius S. DeLaCruz is a creative individual who is very much submerged in the art of the film and entertainment industry. After graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in hospitality management he went back to school to pursue his passion for film. After taking film courses at Fullerton College, he immediately worked with companies such as HSI Productions, Prettybird, Partizan and Denizen, in production as a coordinator and production manager. But his passion has always been in directing and is deeply engraved in trying to showcase stories through visuals that stir away from the norm. His creative expertise include directing music videos, commercials and shorts for his own projects and for Off The Boat Productions.

Vanessa Augustin's passion involves everything related to creative arts. She holds a bachelor's degree in Advertising and continued acquiring an associates degree in Film Studies. She started off as a designer and diversified her work through assisting Production Designers and Art Directors in the film industry. From there, she branched out and started her own production company called Off The Boat Productions and now produces and manages its operations.
Our lead actor Brian Collins has been acting and writing for over 16 years. He's worked with productions where he played the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz and has done writing and acting for Black Kat Theatre -- a small theatre company specializing in sketch comedy based on political and current events. He's also worked on projects with our director Julius Delacruz.

Risks and challenges
Our production team is working hard to minimize production risks and challenges. Our crew has years of production experience that will help our production run as smooth and efficient as possible.
One of the biggest production challenges we have is finding the right locations for Chuck. We want to make sure that every location we film adds to the story and reflects Chucks state of mind. One location that seems to be a challenge is a store with a self-checkout counter. In our story Chuck is so afraid of human interaction that he decides to use self-check counters instead of interacting with cashiers. A lot of the places we have contacted require an amount of money that is a significant percentage of our budget. We are hoping with your help we can secure great locations to help tell our story properly.
We would also like to make sure that we get the proper equipment to get the best aesthetic look for our film. Our crew are industry professionals with great knowleadge and experience on how to utilize the equipment we intend on getting for our shoot.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
