HELP THE HOME FIRES produce their debut album in February 2013.
We are lucky enough to have the golden opportunity to produce a live album in one of the world’s most respected recording studios, Real World in the Wiltshire village of Box. We have saved all our money from past gigs to help fund this project but have a hole in our funds and are looking to fill this void through this Kickstarter appeal.
The Home Fires
We first formed in 2010 and have spent the last three years performing at acoustic clubs and festivals across the West Country, England building a strong and ever-growing following and reputation.
The core of the band consists of Nikki Capp (vocals, penny whistle and flute), Will Lawton (vocals, piano and hang) and Neil Muttock (guitars). We are often joined live by Bethany Porter (cello, vocals and ukulele) who will feature heavily on the new album.
Beautifully blended natural, organic sounds which are timeless, yet reflective of a 21st century view of British life.
Our original music is characterised by the distinctive harmonies created between Nikki and Will, backed by well crafted guitars, piano, flute and cello. The music constantly evolves during live performances as band members move between other instruments including hang, stomp and brush rhythm to bring the tunes together.
In order to create this album we must pay for studio time, sound engineering, session musicians, mixing, mastering and CD reproduction. The £3500 required represents the current shortfall we have in order to pay for the above.
This is a truly independent project that needs your help to succeed.
Risks and challenges
We are confident that we can make this happen. Our main risk is that we don't raise the money and therefore cannot afford the studio costs. However, this risk will not affect you, the project supporter, as it will simply mean we do not get to create our album.
We have recorded albums with other bands in the past and know the processes involved. We have agreed rates with engineers, session musicians and the studio and are very confident that with this £3500 plus the money we already have saved, this album will come into existence.
We need this album to continue as a band, have worked for three years writing and fine-tuning the songs and will do everything we can to make this project successful.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
