Christ has ascended to Heaven. The disciples have waited in Jerusalem for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Now, filled with Its power, they embark upon the great commission, to spread the gospel message throughout Judea, and to the ends of the earth.
In The Acts, you take on the role of disciples in the early church. Starting in Judea, you can spread throughout the Roman Empire, sharing the gospel in the goal of saving souls. Each turn you can preach, pray, plant churches, write letters, disciple others, and perform mighty miracles. Race to reach the farthest provinces first, or focus your strategy around the spiritual gifts you have prayed for. With multiple paths to victory, every game is unique. The Acts is faithful to the Bible, yet requires no biblical knowledge to play and enjoy.
In addition to the beautiful game board shown above, The Acts also includes the following:
The Acts is at its heart a simple, worker placement style board game. There are six regions your disciples can act in, each containing the same potential actions:
Each player has the same six miracle cards available to use during the game. Players can also pray for a spiritual gift, which provides an ongoing benefit and can help shape your strategy. Much as in real life, preaching has greater impact in areas that have not yet been reached by the gospel. The Acts simulates this through diminishing returns in each region as people continue to preach there. At the same time, prayer gains in impact as more souls are saved in a particular region. Against this backdrop, their are multiple strategies that can be successfully employed.
The Acts works on multiple levels, appealing to people in both design and theme. See what reviewers and play testers have to say about the game.
"The rules are so simple I could call it a gateway game, but the strategy goes much deeper with no single best way to win." - Play Tester
"Every game action and mechanism fits perfectly with the theme... some of the best looking custom meeples I've come across." - Play Tester
By backing now, you not only get The Acts at a significant discount to retail pricing, you can get multiple Kickstarter exclusive stretch goals. Or pick up a combo that includes getting a copy of our first game, Builders of Blankenburg.
We are also pleased to announce the option of gifting a copy of The Acts. Cobblestone Games is partnering with organizations ranging from Boys & Girls Clubs to The USO, to provide copies of the Acts to people who would never have an opportunity to play the game otherwise.
Help The Acts break past funding goals to unlock extra bonuses for all backers. Stretch goals include new cards, mini-expansions, and production upgrades. We have already invested a good deal of our own funds into this game, so that the remaining funding goal is easily attainable and we can hopefully unlock multiple stretch goals. All stretch goals are Kickstarter exclusives that will not be available later at regular retailers.
The components in The Acts are both a lot of fun, and very authentic. First off, the disciple meeples (or disceeples as we like to call them) have been popular among all our play testers. Not only do they strike the classic Paul preaching pose, they are also very fun to play with. You can place two of them side by side to high-five each other, or they are balanced enough to carry each other. Challenge your friends to see how high you can stack them.
Compared to the disciples, you may think the churches are rather plain. However, throughout play testing, we came to find the differential in height to be useful for players who are viewing the board from the side. In early versions of the game, the churches we used looked like small houses with a cross on top. During the first century, the Christian church was being persecuted and marking your meeting place with a cross would be unheard of. In fact, early churches met in people's homes, most of which in those areas featured flat roofs. Therefore, we switched to using cubes to represent churches in the game. True story.
Shipping is $7.00 and is automatically added for US backers. We will ship worldwide, with EU and Canada friendly options, utilizing HappyShops and Board Game Bliss, respectively. Given the unknown quantity of backers in these areas, and extra costs associated with small scale fulfillment, we currently have the following shipping estimates:
- Canada expected to be $10-14
- Europe expected to be $12-20
- Rest of the world expected to be $15+
Shipping charges outside the US will be added after the campaign closes. In the unlikely event that shipping to your country exceeds the estimates noted above, you will be offered the opportunity to cancel your pledge for a full refund.
Peter Schultz - Designer
Peter loves God, his family, his country, and gaming. The Acts is his third game design, following the well received Builders of Blankenburg, and its Cutthroat expansion. Beyond The Acts, he has five other game projects in the pipeline, such as the Fields and Flocks expansion for Blankenburg. Additional projects incorporate mechanics including deck building, worker placement, and card drafting. Outside of game design, he holds down a day job in the financial services industry, looking forward to family game night every Friday.

Risks and challenges
Having already successfully completed and delivered on two Kickstarter campaigns, risks are limited. The Acts has been going through the design process for some time. All the art is currently complete and production is lined up. While there is always the potential of unforeseen issues during production, we are very transparent and keep our backers up to date, as can be seen in prior campaigns.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
