About this project
THE RUBBER BAND GUN
A redesigned rubber band gun for use in the office, at home or on the playground. Hours of fun!
Hello! I am a student at Brown University and a Rhode Island School of Design studying Industrial Design. For one of my projects I was asked to redesign and mass produce an object. I chose to redesign the rubber band gun!
- The gun comes in a kit form with 19 easy to assemble wood parts
- The gun can be assembled in less than 5 minutes
- The gun is fastened with only 9 fasteners (no glue required!)
- cut out of 1/8 inch birch plywood for a nice feel and good look
- The gun shoots 10 shots and distances of 20-25 feet!
- All manufactured and design in the U.S.A.
As children I played with rubber band guns. But as I got older rubber band guns went away with childhood. However In my first year at the Rhode Island School of Design my class participated in large games of Assassin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin_(game)) in which you would "kill" the other players by using rubber bands. My friends and I wanted to bring back rubber band guns and introduce them to the game. As being RISD students we began making our own. This gun is its culmination!
-I have my manufacturers set up so once I am funded, I will be able to start immediately producing The Palladium.
-I will be purchasing baltic birch from woodcraft.com and the plastic pins from crown and bolt and the packaging from Uline. (approximately 1 week)
-I will then cut the guns through Providence's Precision Laser Cutters (http://www.precisionlaserri.com/) (approximately 1-2 weeks and depends on how many orders there are)
-My family and friends and I will then package the gun and ship them right to you! (approximately 1-2 weeks)
-It is as simple as that!
