Tower Miniatures is seeking to fund our miniatures line of the Ridge trolls, designed for fantasy tabletop games. This Kickstarter project is our first campaign to bring these monstrous beasts to life. This campaign will begin with two miniature sets and we will also reveal new models throughout the campaign.
All the models are based on the 32 mm heroic scale and cast in resin which would require assembly and painting.
At Tower Miniatures our mission is to provide fantasy miniatures that will sit in already substantial collections. We create our miniatures with many factors into consideration. We always take on the technical challenge of having miniatures that work as gaming pieces and the need to have well-balanced design and the ability for the pieces to be transported.
All our designs have and always will be very story orientated. We ask ourselves how these characters live and what habitat they would come from. When we have that story we try to inject that into our sculpting process.
Over this Kickstarter campaign, we will be filling out the story of our ridgeback trolls and their world.
All trolls are the missing link between the goblins and orcs, they are the true ancestors of the green skin races. The troll’s skull is very similar to the orc’s but the growth of its nose and ears seem to be more like a goblin’s face. Ridge trolls are the most primitive among the whole troll race. They are too simple to use clothing and forge weapons. However, stories tell that they have other means of making war gear from the strangest of sources.
As ridge trolls eat everything around them, they roam far and wide always looking for new feeding grounds. For this reason, they are often named as common trolls. In their younger years, trolls will band together in hunting packs of three or even five. With their powerful arms, they can rip a man in half. If their prey is too tough they will vomit their stomach content melting the poor victim into a tasty screaming soup. Eventually, these trolls will grow to become wrecking trolls and it is common to see them turn on each other.
When a troll gets to its third growth spurt it is taken over by its maddening appetite. The beast has the possibility to be fast and deadly but totally unpredictable, eating away everything and anything. At one moment it can be eating its way through the enemy. Next moment it is storming off to devour a tree in the distance. Due to constantly shoveling food into its mouth, its hands are covered in the same corrosive bile and saliva that drapes from its jaws, meaning that even the slightest touch of its claws can be fatal to those that get in its way.
Throughout the campaign, we will reveal a new miniature each week. These add-ons will have their own pledge awards. If you have already backed on other pledges, you can increase your pledge for the amount of new add-on. These add-ons are related to the Ridge trolls and they show a crucial part of their life cycle and their hierarchy.
The Troll Giant
The Troll Giant is the oldest of male trolls. These beast are the end product of the wrecking troll rampage and often the target of there younger brothers as trolls have no problem with cannibalism.
Our miniatures we will be designed and manufactured completely within the UK using 3D printers and centrifugal casting techniques. We will use high-quality resin for our products. The prototypes are created in digital sculpting programs and as the campaign progresses there will be regular updates on different stages of actual miniatures production.
All packages will be shipped from the UK. We have shown two types of shipping estimates based on the overall pledge value. The second prices are for all backers who pledge more than £50.
UK – £4.50 / Free
EU – £12.50 / £5.00
USA, Canada – £13.00 / £6.00
Rest of the world – £14.00 / £7.00
Delivery costs are per complete order, not per unit.
Please bear in mind that these costs are only estimates, the actual cost can increase based on the package’s weight. We will notify if this is the case when we are ready to send. Shipping costs will be charged after the campaign end and once the package is ready to be sent. We cannot ship to PO boxes both domestically and internationally.
Risks and challenges
As this is our first Kickstarter project, we decided to keep it simple. We have already produced several test items and we are pleased to say that they were all successful. This gives us a confidence that we will be able to get these miniatures into your hands provided the funding is a success.
However some hiccups can happen along the way during the production process. For this reason some of the models can be changed or delayed. Should this happen, we will keep you informed at all times.
Not all ad-ons and stretch goals miniatures have been completely tested yet. Due to this fact, there can be some changes to shown renders. Again, if this is the case, we will contact you and keep you updated about it.
We are aware that the shipping is the bit that is out of our control. We have done tons of research and we believe we chose the best courier that has a good quality/price ratio.
