About

What is DungeonBuilder?

DungeonBuilder is an online game system that makes traditional table-top role playing games like Dungeons & Dragons and RuneQuest much more fun and enjoyable.  At a high level, DungeonBuilder allows Game Masters to create interactive dungeons online and then to use those dungeons during the actual table-top game session to create fast-paced and exciting adventures.  Using laptops, tablet computers or cell phones, the Game Master and Players navigate their dungeons using interactive tools such as a moveable party icon, a game clock, and a random monster encounter generator.

Dungeonbuilder is intended to web-assist your normal table-top game session by allowing GM’s to use a slate, tablet or laptop computer to manage aspects of the game that presently have to be done with paper and pencil.  GM’s will no longer have to spend 10 minutes rolling up a random monster encounter, or thumb through paper maps to keep track of where the party is at.  Meanwhile, as the GM moves the party icon, Players who have an iPad, iPhone or their own slate computer can track the movement of their party through the dungeon. One great feature of DungeonBuilder is that, as the party icon is moved through the dungeon, the dungeon map is progressively revealed to each of the Players.  Better yet, DungeonBuilder automatically saves that portion of the map that the party has explored to each Player’s profile so they don’t have to keep updating hand drawn maps.  And there is no limit to how many dungeons you can create and explore with DungeonBuilder.

DungeonBuilder allows you to create your own monsters as well as create custom random encounter tables that you can assign to each level of your dungeon.  DungeonBuilder also comes with an integrated game clock that automatically rolls random encounters at the frequency of encounter checks you specify for your encounter tables.  You see, as you move the party icon on the map, DungeonBuilder automatically increments the game clock and checks for encounters at the correct intervals.  Now Game Masters can focus on telling the stories they want their players to enjoy and can stop fiddling around with pencils and paper.

Where Do We Stand?

We have completed Version 1 of DungeonBuilder and Version 1 has some 30 features in it.  However, we know that almost all of you have hard copy maps you treasure.  We want to provide you the ability to import, trace over, and use those maps in DungeonBuilder.  Further, we want to provide you the ability draw free hand maps using a stylus and to import images of your favorite characters and monsters.

And that is why we are asking for your help.  Your support will help us develop these features in Version 2 of DungeonBuilder and launch the game in the next 2-4 months.  Please take a moment to contribute whatever you feel comfortable providing.

Also, even if you don’t contribute, we’d love to hear from you on what you think about the concept, the features you like and don’t like, and what you think we should add with Version 3…..so please, drop us a line!

And thank you for your support!
