Each wallet measures approximately 3.5" x 3.75" x 3/16" when empty.
This has a been an ongoing 5 year process for me to create the perfect wallet! It started back in 2008 when I couldn't find a thin minimal wallet that didn't look like it would fall apart in a few months. So I started brainstorming some unique forms for a new wallet, the first sets of prototypes were made using a thick card stock and glue.
I then moved on to a more durable option, clear plastic vinyl. I tried to keep these as simplistic as I could, so I sewed them using industrial quilting thread and dyed them with RIT dye. After testing these out for about 6-12 months I came to the realization that the shape was working extremely well, but they just weren't holding up through the wear and tear.
Now that I had the form and aesthetic ready, I was eager to try some new materials. First I went for a thick canvas, which still wasn't as durable as I had hoped, so I started researching leathers and found a thinner leather that most wallets are made from today. I adapted the design to it and used a leather thread to sew the sides together.
I was very happy with these wallets. Despite being hand cut and sewn, they worked very well for their purpose. I rigorously tested this design for over a year checking for expandability, ease of use (grabbing out your money and cards), susceptibility to water, appearance, and everything else I could think of. After all of this I realized that the width of the cash area was a little too slim, so I expanded it slightly to allow for easier cash insertion. The sewing had a tendency to come undone one or two stitches if you liked to stuff your wallet with lots of cash and receipts. And finally the leather was a little too flimsy and thin. I figured out that since there are no parts to the wallet that will be folded over and over again I could use a thicker leather that would hold it's shape. I also solved the sewing problem by trying out many rivet types, landing the final conclusion with brass antiqued double capped rivets. I have tested this new design for nearly a year as well, making sure it's up to highest standard. I believe this design is the ultimate solution for any user, and it will absolutely outlast your grandchildren!
For just $10 you can also get a laser cut leather ring in matching color to any of the wallets above. All rings will fit true to size.
WHY $10,000? THE EPILOG LASER CUTTER:
So far I have had to personally fund all of my ideas and prototypes for these wallets, and they aren't cheap by any means. In order to keep the costs down for you and make these leather wallets affordable I need to invest in a quality laser cutter with your help! I could not afford one of these laser cutters without your support, and if successful I will use this machine to create hundreds if not thousands of great products for my new brand for Clegs an' Sairly!
There are a few reasons why I chose this particular laser cutter. For one it has air assist which is very important for cutting leather. Without it the burn from the cutting process could come back to damage the laser. Another reason is quality! The Epilog brand has proven to be a leader in quality laser cutters and their laser cutters are locally built and available here in the USA.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge with most Kickstarter projects is the delivery date. I have everything lined up to be produced locally in Salt Lake, and I will be doing all of the dying and rivet work myself to minimize outsourcing delays. I should have everything ready to ship within 4 weeks after the project end date, but just in case something comes up I have also lined up secondary leather, laser cutting, dye, and rivets from other sources to cover the demand.
I don't think anyone should have to wait more than a month or two to get something they have paid for, and so I have prioritized the Clegs wallet as follows:

I'm ready to move forward and tackle anything that comes my way, now I just need your support to help make this design a reality!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
