This patent pending 4-axis technology stabilizes the vertical axis, a critical deficiency of traditional 3-axis gimbals in addressing bouncy videos. FAILURE OF PREVIOUS 4-AXIS GIMBALS
Despite many attempts, earlier 4-axis gimbal developments were unable to overcome 2 major roadblocks. First, basic spring attributes were not conducive to adjustments for varying payloads. Second, the challenge of gravity compounded by stored energy resulting in endless undulating bounces created by the spring. Both are extraordinarily difficult obstacles that gimbal developers have yet to overcome. You may have seen several carefully choreographed 4-axis gimbal videos on the web. But in each case, a spring of specific size and tension is selected to match the operating payload. Hence any payload change will destroy the equilibrium. Then, the operator had to counter every upward movement with a well-timed and equal downward movement. The need to constantly return to a centralized position demonstrates how these attempts at vertical stabilization will not work in real world applications, hence none of these prototypes were ever released as finished products.
THE HYDRAULIC SHOCK SOLUTION
To address vertical stabilization, Turbo Ace engineers integrated a patent pending suspension system with 4 Synchronized Hydraulic Shocks to absorb and slowly dissipate energy from the main spring. Instead of endless up and down oscillation, the hydraulic shocks enable filming to transition smoothly between opposing vertical displacements without having to return to a centralized position. A case in point, when suspension system was first introduced in the 20th century, there were basically springs implemented to absorb the initial force from a bump on the road but there was no solution to mitigate ensuing bounces that lingers for several seconds. The adaptation of hydraulic shocks is able to slowly disperse that force. Another challenge was adaptability and adjustability, whereas a sedan will benefit from softer more responsive suspension, a heavier SUV definitely requires much stiffer support. Jockey's patent pending toolless adjustable spring mechanism with two adjustment knobs can easily adapt to varying payloads and enable operator to tune and tailor to specific production needs.

FAUX VS TRUE 4TH AXIS STABILIZERS
A typical shoulder/hip rig function is to transfer most of the 3-axis gimbal weight from your hands and arms to your shoulders or hips. Unfortunately for the typical shoulder/hip rig, your hands remain connected directly to the 3-axis gimbal which negates most of the rig’s perceived 4th axis stabilization. In contrast, the Jockey Support Rig is used strictly to support the weight of the gimbal leaving all 4 axis to function independently without any operator interference.
HEAVY DUTY DUAL JOCKEY 4TH-AXIS STABILIZERS
As 4th-axis upgrade targeted to larger scaled Hollywood style 3-axis stabilized filming, Jockey developers coupled two Jockey 4th-Axis Stabilizers to double strength and capacity to support larger gimbals and camera payloads. From our experience with past projects, we are much better equipped to stay on schedule. Risks and challenges
The path to a successful new product is not about what we have accomplished. It’s what we have learned from the past that we can pull from that makes us better innovators and producers - brain storming to conceptualized ground breaking designs, developing skills and tools to streamline development and prototypes, establishing long term relationships with a network of suppliers, setting up procedures to oversee assembly lines and enforce continued quality assurance.
When the Jockey Team gathered to draw up plans for a 4-axis solution, they have already seen more than a few failed attempts by other developers. Shrugging off convention enables the team to start from scratch, a criterion to thinking outside the box. Drawing from over 80 years of combined experience in completing 32 successful projects, of which 9 of them are gimbal related, this is certainly not our first rodeo in such an endeavor.
A quantum leap into the unknown, Jockey has promised to be a long grueling development process with breakthroughs and setbacks.
