Diceborn Heroes plays like an old school JRPG, in a 3-4 player game each player gathers their starting hero dice and selects one of the 4 starting classes of hero to control:
The Fighter: Burly and agressive the fighter will attack with ferocity and can block and counterattack, or risk damage to deal a large amount of damage.
The Mage: The mage has a selection of damaging spells that hit multiple targets, they can also use their ability to manipulate the value of their hero dice.
The Priest: The priest can help heal wounds of his fellow heroes as well as purify spells which would do additional damage to undead enemies.
The Thief: Thieves attacks can help them avoid damage or avoid counter attacks as well as looting items and dealing additional damage between attacks.
The key to the combat and evolution of the game is in the attack deck. The attack deck is a tool that will give enemies their speed and target of attack as well as giving a dynamic for the choices and progress the heroes have made as cards get added or removed from this deck.
Players draw their first quest from the Quest deck marked with a "1". They follow any quest setup revealing monster cards for each hero. Players roll their pool of Hero dice then assign one to an available attack slot on their hero card(s). once all dice are assigned players reveal an attack card for each monster then resolve attacks from the lowest to the highest value of card or die. enemies target the hero that has an assigned die that is equal to or greater than their attack card value. heroes choose enemies to target and can use hero abilities at any point to gain an edge in battle. after all attacks the attack cards are discarded and heroes gather their dice again, roll and assign all over.
Defeated enemies, add cards back into the attack deck, if the deck runs out, heroes start taking additional damage. Once all enemies are defeated, the quest is successful and players proceed to the town phase. After each encounter, players will have a chance to level up their classes and learn new skills, giving them more abilities and dice to use in the upcoming battles.The adventure your heroes take will flow over 3 different quests, after which you will face a final boss. Players will win when they successfully defeat this boss.
The Dangers in Dievalice are greater than you think..
Going into the last quest the final boss will reveal itself and will add it's influence into the attack deck, this will test your hero's perseverance to survive and overcome the final battle. If this team of Heroes prevails you have won the game, and now can look forward to peace in the lands of Dievalice... but for how long?
The story doesn't end here...
Players can enjoy Diceborn heroes in these single play sessions but the story unfolds when you continue the adventure in the campaign play. If you are playing as a campaign any of the relics you have acquired with Star icons get shuffled into the "Item deck" for future games then all the cards currently in the attack deck will stay there when you create the attack deck for your next play through.
Each time you win the next time you play the choices you made before will affect the next generation of heroes. Players will start over with a new team of Diceborn Heroes and will face a new quest returning all quest cards from successful games before back to the box. You can keep going forward, game after game until your heroes have failed or if you have finished all 8 final bosses.
With 22 different Hero classes right out of the box there is thousands of combinations that work well together for tons of replayability. At the end of a "campaign" the number of "Starred" cards in the item and attack deck will give you a final score. The choices you make are what will define your game in Diceborn Heroes.

Local Pick-up Options
For those backers in Calgary and Edmonton there will be local pickup options available to you. Please set your shipping location to "CHRISTMAS ISLAND" and you will have the 0$ shipping option.
Supporting gamers and lovers of the hobby is only possible with a shared responsibility on shipping. All copies are going to be delivered from shipping centers in Canada, The US, and in Europe. To help reduce customs holdups and get it into your hands with limited trouble. For shipping to Asia and Australia/South Pacific I will try to get group shipping set up to help cut the cost, If there are any local stores that backers are aware of and enough demand we can make pickup points. All local bonuses such as acrylic tokens and Dice towers will be sent from Canada and may be delivered separately with some delays, hopefully within reason.
Pledge level adjustments
All pledge levels will be able to adjust and manage their pledges before shipping through BackerKit Survey that will be out after the funding date.
Class Upgrade System
The class upgrade system in Diceborn Heroes is divided into 3 levels. After each quest you have the choice of changing classes to 1 of 2 available classes or gain one of the abilities of those classes and remain the same. Here's an example of how a hero can level in a game;

As a backer of some poor or mismanaged projects I understand what the issues can be getting things out. That's why I picked a solid reputable manufacturer along with setting up a fulfillment agency, the game itself is complete except for some art design left open for the game and potential upgrades, and I learned first and foremost that communication with backers is the key to creating a long lasting relationship and reputation.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
