AM Millinery is the label of Ann-Marie Faulkner - a London based miliner who is inspired by colouful cultures, geometry in nature and things that make her laugh.
After completing a degree in Constructed Textile Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, Scotland, Ann-Marie moved to London and went on to study millinery with Rose Cory - the Queen Mothers former milliner.
Each collection is a different story, communicating an idea or inspiration. Textile design is hugely important within her practice with a lot of the fabrics used being produced by herself. With an emphasis on simple forms and detailed fabric, Ann-Marie sensitively combines contemporary and innovative textile design with traditional British millinery techniques to produce her unique pieces for both everyday wear and special occasions.
Ann-Marie’s work has been featured in publications including Grazia, You and Your Wedding, Hello, US Instyle and Glamour, as well as appearing on the hit US TV series ‘Gossip Girl’.

THE NEW COLLECTION...
The new collection for Spring/Summer '15 is titled 'Paper" and is inspired by a trip to the Outer Hebrides where I was overwhelmed by the stunning scenery and atmosphere. The textures and colours from the islands have been used as a reference to produce a series of 12 hats made from bonded silks and cottons. Pieces include large organza sun hats and caps with wood and metal peaks.
Photo shoots are a crucial part of any fashion brands work. They are used to add to portfolios and look books and are what predominantly sells your work, securing orders which in turn secures the future of a brand.
Photo shoots however are not cheap! They take a lot of hard work and planning from a lot of people (stylists, models, photographers, hair & makeup artists), which results in high expenses.
The collection is almost finished, but this season I need help funding the shoot. Your kind pledges will enable me to pay for my photo shoot and add to the progression of AM Millinery.
In exchange for your pledges, you can receive the following gifts-
A fun little triangle brooch made from hand painted brass, semi precious beads and metal foiling. Due to the nature of how this piece is painted, each brooch will vary and no two will be the same, making this a truly unique piece.
A hand made triangle keyring/bag charm made from square brass tubes & iridescent glass cube beads. Attach to anything you like using the trigger clip. Only available via Kickstarter for a limited time.
From the Sakura collection - A collection of hand painted brass and leather hair and fashion accessories. Polished brass secured to black cotton tape which simply ties around the head making it very simple to wear.
A turban style headband which has been hand stitched using a gorgeous duchesse satin. Available in a choice of mint or pistachio.
A hexagonal pillbox hat made from a hand manipulated silk velvet in vibrant orange. Its secured to the head using hidden elastic making it very simple to wear. Measures 2.5cm high and 9cm in diameter. One size fits all.
A hand blocked, stitched and wired pillbox hat made using a stunning iridescent sequinned silk. AB swarovski crystals have been added by hand to further catch and reflect light. One size fits all. Only available via Kickstarter for a limited time.
Each gift will also come with a hand written thank you note and my genuine appreciation.
Risks and challenges
The main risk would be not reaching my funding target as this would add detrimental delays to my photo shoot. I am hoping this won't be a problem however, as where there is a will there is a way!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
