Summer Knights is a RPG Maker game we have been working on for over 2 years now. It's about a simpler time. A time of tag, water-balloons, and coming in when the streetlights come on. It's about childhood..., and how awful it was. This comedy forces you to remember what it's really like to deal with 8 year olds.
We originally planned on making this game in 4 months for the Scholastics Arts Contest, but it turns out making games is hard. Also, it's not free. Apparently musicians actually want to be paid for their work. And apparently advertising costs money. With crippling student debt on the horizon, we couldn't exactly pay out of pocket. Instead of turning to Drug-Dealing and Bank-Robbing, we came to Kickstarter.
The game should be ready and released on Steam by July of 2019, with a soundtrack composed by PengoSolvent.
As two High-School Seniors who have been making small films, comics, and video games our whole life, this is a big deal. We've never done a Project of this scale, and we've never done Kickstarter before. We're excited, and we'd love for you to be part of the Summer Knights community.
A teaser game for Summer Knights is available for download RIGHT HERE.
(Please note, this is a supplementary game for Summer Knights and is not a demo)
Risks and challenges
The game is almost done, however we are working with a musician to get a original soundtrack. We don't know the specifics on that yet. We plan on spending money on advertising after the game is put on steam (which for the record also costs money), but we don't have a solid plan for that either. Once we know for sure that we have a budget we will be able to set these things in stone and have a more concrete plan moving forward.
Delays are possible because both of us are working on other projects at the moment, but we are generally good with deadlines. We will be vocal and upfront with the community involving any problems that may come up.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
