Update- New Goal: $10,000
I am overwhelmed by the generous support this project has garnered. To those of you who have pledged towards the making of this album- THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for being as excited about this debut record as I am. Please know that every dollar pledged goes right back into the cost of this project, which I can now do more with because of your generosity! Mark & I are already making plans to finish mixing and mastering very soon.
To those of you who are still debating whether or not to be a part of this campaign, know that even a very small pledge goes a long way. Only $10 gets you a digital copy of this drop dead gorgeous record. And "Foot Soldiers"- which has been an audience favorite for years- is only available to backers of this project. I am excited for those of you who'll get to finally have it. ;)I am very blessed. Thank you for being a part of this record.
With a toy piano-based EP and two music videos under my belt, I wanted to finally capture the lush, orchestral experience that my fans in Los Angeles have witnessed at live shows for the last two years. Several months ago, I approached Chicago-based engineer Mark Greenberg (Andrew Bird, Wilco, Mavis Staples), and he enthusiastically agreed to record & co-produce the songs that my fans have been patiently waiting for.
For our project, Mark enlisted the help of bassist Tom V. Ray (Neko Case, Jakob Dylan) and percussionist Kevin O’Donnell (Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire). I decided to save the trouble of finding & rehearsing with local musicians, and flew part of my magnificent band to the city. At the height of Chicago’s freezing winter season, we undertook what was for me the most magical, fulfilling experience of my life.
An achingly beautiful, spooky piece of work is now waiting to be heard. I must now recoup at least some of what it cost to create the album before we can proceed with post-production and its release.
The cost of making my first album is great, but I believe the expense will be well worth the investment. For those of you who don’t know my story- last fall, I decided to give up my apartment, job, stability, and even gave my cat to friends for an indefinite period of time so that I could throw myself into my work. I decided to trust that great things would happen if I were true to my artistic vision of writing, recording, touring & connecting with music lovers such as yourself. So far, great things have indeed begun to happen, my music has been supported by wonderful people and I have been blessed. This record will take me even further down the path I have chosen and help me get there faster than I could otherwise.
My fund-raising goal on this site is $6000. That is actually less than half of the project’s actual cost*. But these are tough times, and even $6000 would help tremendously. In exchange for your generous donation, you may choose from a number of rewards that I have put much time, thought & energy into. THANK YOU for considering this project, and please spread the word to your family & friends!
