Are the terms douche-bag and outright fraud "respectful and considerate"?
Just checking -- I might be tempted to use them at some point,,,

    4. James on

Almost 2 years since Rost said "If I wanted to rob people I'll be silent and just delete my profile." Direct link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/940015402/lumen-eternal-flashlight-that-doesnt-need-batterie/comments…

What more do you need? He said that, then went silent the next day. Look at his profile comments for proof.

How come a person can be as bold as you :\ it's now October 2017 and it's funny every time I remember this guy saying this statement while in fact he was planning to cheat us.

    9. Bob Tabone on

If you didn't have a plan to cheat and not ship, when will you be shipping?

    10. James on

@Jamie because they have their money. It's in their best interest to not do anything. If you think about it, if we all got our money back that would mean Kickstarter would have to give back their cut too. They'd literally be working to give back their profit and I don't see that happening.

    11. Jamie White on

It's almost a year since the last update, why doesn't Kickstarter do something?

    12. James on

Hey, Steve Moron is back asking for an update on an almost year-old post from a creator that hasn't responded to anyone in 11 months. I expected better from a "Superbacker." I doubt you'll read this comment Steve, but if you do... YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED.

I'm going to file a complaint against Kickstarter with FTC for this, for wire fraud. Essentially; Kickstarter is complicit in the scam - they get paid and we get robbed. And they protect the robber.

    15. James on

@Paul Simons To be fair, the video on the campaign page does show his face. I'm guessing it's either required by Kickstarter or he knew that he had to be in the video to make it seem credible and get more money.

    16. Missing avatar

      Paul Simons on

Dammit, I forgot to mention no sound, because this is not his video!! It's someone else's video, talking about something totally unrelated, but without sound it gives the illusion it is him talking about the flashlights.

    17. Missing avatar

      Paul Simons on

notice not a single video or picture shows his face. If, if, IF I ever back a KS again, (lol, it's about as likely as HIllary not killing someone who crossed her), I will require video of the person's face.

Is it true that you can get away with $156,759!!!!!!! Can someone please let me know what the story is with Kickstarter not communicating about their stance on this "fraud" stance...

    19. Ted on

@Bryan, yes I was wondering myself too when it would happen.

PSA: This was a scam, stop asking the creator to respond, he has not logged into Kickstarter for 6+ months.

WHERE'S MY FLASHLIGHT!!! Sucks that this guy mislead and and lied openly about the project, even worse in my opinion that Kickstarter does not offer any assistance or embed agreement language to prevent this type of thing from happening. Guilty by association - Last Kickstarter project I will consider. Thanks for ruining what was once a honest and innovative platform for entrepreneurs.

    21. James on

...yep, figured it was only a matter of time before someone commented asking for an update or if/when we'll get the flashlights even though the comment right before stated this was a scam. Pretty much every comment thread on this campaign has talked about this being a scam, but obviously people don't read it anyway.

      Are these going to happen?

    23. Ted on

People that ask for updates please:

YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED, READ THE GLOBAL COMMENTS

He has been using fake images from the start, this all has been one huge fraud. There will be no refund, no delivery the creator stopped even logging in to his account.

YOU LOST YOUR MONEY and Kickstarter will do NOTHING to help you.

Is this ever going to happen or is it another inventor that has no idea how to run a business. Maybe this is just a hobby project? If you need help understanding how to start up a business, I am sure there are many backers, such as myself, who have successfully developed, launched and sold small start-ups such as this. All you need to do is bury your pride and reach out to the community of backers for help or sell your designs to someone that can commercialize them. If you sell your design, ou can get a royalty on sales for a period which is better than the zerox$ you appear to be getting doing it your way.

Adding this to my list of projects that I wasted money on. Sigh.

This is the 2nd kickstart project I supported that I got ripped off from. Kickstarter won't do anything. So boycott Kickstarter and spread the word. Maybe if we all stop supporting Kickstarter they will at least take these situations seriously and at least they could refund their commission. I think Kickstarter takes 10%. Don't quote me on that.

I did not receive any update since August so I guess we all got ripped off. Any idea how we can get our money refunded or the person arrested for fraud. Today is Jan 2, 2017.

I think kickstarter should refund people any commissions they get for projects that never materialise. Maybe they will then start to take some responsibility in fraudsters who are running mutliple scams

    43. James on

You still believe this isn't a scam?! He has multiple kickstarter accounts, has been completely silent for over 3 months, hasn't given any estimated delivery date since around June, and there's evidence that he re-used pictures from other sites in his updates in order for them to seem legit.

And if none of that is enough, then maybe you'll reconsider when he completely ignores your new comments considering this is a quote from one of his last comments on Aug 1st:
"If I wanted to rob people I'll be silent and just delete my profile."
