What we do
STOIC is forever changing the way people think about business applications. With it, anyone can create a mobile app, as easily as using a spreadsheet. Whether you start from scratch or from an existing template, you can build the application that will perfectly suit your needs. And you can do that all by yourself, without having to learn programming or hiring a ninja. This is our way of fighting software illiteracy.
What they say
"I am very excited to be a part of this process, and I'm looking forward to playing with the platform."
"STOIC will be a backbone for our unique social enterprise, enabling millions of field workers in developing countries. They use spreadsheets all over the place to digitize important data such as membership, patient health and micro-finance loans. STOIC is a wonderful platform for collecting data. I am hoping that STOIC will surprise us by proving that apps built on their platform will be even easier to use than spreadsheets! You cannot find better test case than this for solving digital illiteracy!"
"I'm really looking forward to seeing what you all are cooking up, and am excited to be a part of it. Keep up all the great work!"
“As a Quality Assurance Manager, I want to use STOIC to put spreadsheet test cases into mobile apps. I want the members of a user acceptance test to have the possibility of using their mobile devices to go through the dedicated cases, mark them as passed or failed, and in addition send bugs if applicable. All from one place, looking much better and being easier to handle than the spreadsheet.” —Johannes W.
"As the Technology Director of a large K-12 international school, I am very excited to learn what STOIC can build to support teaching and learning. With so many schools today embracing Google Apps and mobile learning devices, the scope for STOIC to be an educational game changer is massive!"
"STOIC, c'est d'la bombe de balle atomique !"
How it works
STOIC is built directly into the tools that you're already familiar with: your email client and your spreadsheet editor. The first version is powered by Google Apps, but we're already thinking about a version for Microsoft Office. To build an application, you simply import an existing spreadsheet or build one from scratch, and STOIC automagically turns it into an app, with a powerful cloud database and crazy slick user interfaces. We even create APIs that can be used by developers to connect your app to other cloud services like Facebook or Salesforce.com.
At STOIC, we like doing things our own way. Whether we're designing a logo, developing software, or spilling our beans, we always try to make the process as collaborative, efficient, and fun as possible. Therefore, we've decided to use Kickstarter to launch our product. While our company is already fully funded, we will use this crowd funding campaign to select our early adopters. This will ensure the right level of end-user commitment at a time when the product isn't totally viable yet (Cf. Maximum Unviable Product), while giving early adopters a clear ownership of the product's development process.
Sign-up hundreds of highly-motivated early adopters who will help us take our software from Alpha to Beta, then GA (General Availability), over a period of a few months. We will have a Beta ready for all backers by the end of the campaign. Afterwards, we will work with backers to fix as many bugs as possible and implement the few features that will take our software from a Maximum Unviable Product to a Minimum Viable Product. We will call our software GA when a majority of backers responding to surveys organized every two weeks decide that our software has reached GA quality.
You can track our progress on a daily basis from the Sutoiku blog.
Use of funds
Fix bugs, add a few missing features, improve end-user documentation.
All our product's features are documented on our wishlist. Among them, many features will allow you to navigate through your data in very powerful ways. With STOIC's perspectives, anyone can be a data scientist!
Risks and challenges
Our software is still under development. We currently have a functional Alpha, and we're confident that we will have a solid Beta by the end of the campaign. All major technical risks that we are aware of have been addressed, and most of the work that remains is related to minor features and bug fixes. From a company standpoint, we're supported by a strategic investor and have plenty of runway and resources to fix any technical problem that might arise, during or after the campaign. As mentioned earlier, we're using Kickstarter to select our early adopters, and we want them to be ecstatic about using our product and working with us. We will do the right thing!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
