Dear Kickstarters,

It's been a whirlwind week, and we're amazingly close to our goal! You've been incredible at spreading the word, and even the media has picked up on our project. Click the links to check out these recent stories about the San Diego Public Market and the community that is funding it. Your incredible enthusiasm for this project has really given them something to talk about!

And there are more! We'll keep you posted.

A lot of you have written notes and asked questions, so scroll down on our project page and you'll find a new FAQ section. Don't see your question there? Don't worry, we'll be adding to this in the next day or two. And feel free to keep them coming, we love to talk about what's next.

Thanks again for your support, donations and for spreading the word. This truly is a community project. We're doing it together!

Cheers!

It's Hot! You're Hot! We're Hot!

Posted by Catt White (Creator)

Good morning Kickstarters!

It's going to be another hot one. We've been delighted to discover over the last few days that with the four huge doors rolled up we catch a gentle breeze from the harbor and our giant market hall (aka former factory building) stays surprisingly cool even when the temperature soars. This will be a cool, comfortable gathering place even during San Diego's (thankfully rare) sweltering days.

But the weather's not the only thing that's hot. You've spread news of the San Diego Public Market and our fundraising campaign  like wildfire and we're hearing from local TV and radio stations, bloggers and reporters. We've passed the halfway point to our fundraising goal and it looks like we'll reach $50,000 any minute now!

Thank you to each of you who've donated a dollar, or several thousand. Thank you Kurt, for tacking a nickel onto your generous pledge: it makes us smile when we see those extra cents on our total. Thank you for sharing the campaign with everyone you know.

You keep spreading the word, we'll keep grinding floors, painting walls, and rerouting pipes. Encourage friends to Like us so they can watch our progress.

We're doing this thing, with your help. It's time.

While You Were Sleeping

While you were sleeping, and while we're sharing ideas with great minds at TedX The Future of Food, amazing people just like you (Oh! It was you!) were jumping on board to support this idea with  large and small pledges and offers of help. We're at almost 40% of goal. Can we hit the halfway point this weekend? Or, as uber-backer Donna says, go to infinity and beyond?

We'll be back tomorrow full of inspiration and gratitude. We love that you're as excited about this grand adventure as we are, and can't wait to share more news. Thank you Kickstarters, from the bottom of our hearts!

Day 2: You. Rock.

Posted by Catt White (Creator)

Hey Kickstarters,

It's Day 2 and we're at just over 25% of our goal. Over $23,000 and we have a late night following (hey, it's a foodservice thing) so pledges are still coming in. Today we saw pledges from folks neither of us have ever met. One network lead to another and another, and we got pledges from folks all over San Diego, California, the US and the world. We are a phenomenon. You. Rock.

We had big pledges (really big, thank you Louisa!) and one or two dollar pledges. Every one of them counts. And on top of that, we got messages from folks who want to help in more ways than donating money. Someone wants to print banners. A witty writer has volunteered to help us keep up on social media updates. A local couple is willing to pull weeds, patch and paint. It's obvious that you know that this is your public market.

We know that early excitement can slow, so we're going to ask you to keep encouraging your friends to jump in. On top of the much needed funding, what we saw in the last 36 hours was your enthusiasm for the project. It matches ours, and that's a huge validation. Let's do this thing.

Chow!

Catt & Dale

Thank you!
