In the Dream Traveler series, a boy named Canyon manifests his way around the world through his dreams for a glimpse of how people in other parts of the world live their lives. Readers will travel with him as he meets children who joyfully accept him into their lives and are just as curious and interested in him, as he is in them.
The books are soulful tales of love and adventure for ages 4 and up. They bring about cultural awareness, encourage imagination and creativity - and through the illustrations, they exemplify environmental consciousness and health. Musical instruments, dancing, art and more are seen throughout the stories.
"Where do you want to travel in your dreams?"
That's the question Canyon often hears at night while he flips through his world atlas. His parents encourage his curiosity for people and cultures, also travel and exploration - guiding him on a path toward an extraordinary gift.
To grab the reader's attention, the story begins with Canyon returning from his first dream travel to Canada. He dives on his parent's bed shouting with laughter, "You'll never believe where I just came from!" He sums up his adventure.
A short time passes. Canyon begins a plan to attempt another trip. He has a destination in mind - and thinking back, he feels like he knows how to travel again.
On his second dream travel, Canyon wakes up in Africa under a pale, yellow moon. He stretches his arms up, yawns and looks around. The full moon lights the land and he begins to walk. He hums the tune of the song his mom sang to him while he was falling asleep and he feels safe.
After wandering a few hours, he arrives at a village with simple homes. There are colorful children playing, singing and dancing. A girl notices him and waves him over to invite him into the village.
There he learns about these children. He discovers how different their village lives are from his life in the United States and he has an extraordinary experience!
When he wakes up late in the morning at home, he is filled with wonder and lost in thought.
The story leaves the reader wondering what's going to happen next!
Thank you for viewing this project. This journey so far has been amazing and rewarding - and it feels like it's just the beginning.
