In the New DC Extended Universe film series, Batman (played by Ben Affleck) is in his mid forties and has been Batman for twenty years. This leaves a lot of Batman's crime fighting career skipped and forgotten. What we would like to do is create a live action, non-profit TV series showing the first twenty years of Bruce Wayne's career as Batman. It would cover his return to Gotham City after many years training abroad, his first few years as Batman, the introduction of the majority of his villains, the introduction of Dick Grayson, Batgirl, and Jason Todd, as well as everything else that has made him into the Batman that we see in the DC Extended Universe film series. Our TV series would feature complete original casting (for those who are not happy with the casting done by Warner Bros. and DC Films. As well as original costume designs and story's adapted as directly from the best Batman comics as possible. Below is a (very) rough outline for how the story would be told in each season of the show and the respective stories that each season would be based off of. Keep in mind that this is a very rough outline and more content would more than likely be added.
Season 1 : Batman: Year One, Batman: The Killing Joke (Joker Origin Story only), Batman: The Man Who Laughs.
Season 2: Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory (Dick Grayson is 16 years old).
Season 3: Batman: Tales of the Demon, Batman: Birth of the Demon, Batgirl: Year One.
Season 4: Batman: The Killing Joke, The Introduction of Jason Todd, Batman: Death in the Family.
In all reality the only risk that exists is that of us not obtaining the budget necessary. This is an entirely non-profit project that we would like to produce for fun and for all of the Batman fans out there who would like to see the missing twenty years of Batman's crime fighting career that take place prior to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Essentially we would like to produce high budget fan fiction. This may seem ridiculous but I believe that we are entering an era where film and TV producers are more concerned with pleasing themselves through the production of their own art than satisfying the consumers of their art. Speaking from the consumer side, I absolutely hate when I am leaving a movie theater with the opinion that I just wasted ten dollars on something that I didn't want; in a day and age where movie theater ticket prices are ever increasing, I know I am not alone on this. This is why we are turning to individual contributors to produce art that the consumer wants. I myself am an avid Batman fan who has read the vast majority of Batman's comic book source material. It is because of my status as a true fan that makes me believe that I can deliver the Batman that the consumer truly wants to see. That being said I do not dislike the approach that Warner Bros. and DC Films are taking to Batman in any way. I just think that skipping the first twenty years of his crime fighting career is a waste and, as a huge fan, would like to see that fulfilled.
