About

If you've already seen either video, or just want it explained in the easiest way - simply play it. The free demo is available for windows only, and can be downloaded here or directly by clicking the image below.

Now if you have played it, watched the video and want more information or just feel like reading, this is the basic gist of the game:

Gameplay

First of all, the game is currently being made only for PC.

Combine items with Magic or Science, Build new creations using all kinds of different items, or use them in logical and clever ways - or just regular ways. Squish eyeballs, set fire to guts and brains, make stomachs into engine bays, dissect corpses, and more in the puzzles of The Bizarre Creations of Keith The Magnificent.

There will be 13 levels, each with its own painted strange and weird art, and quirky, slightly grotesque puzzles.

Each level will have up to 14 different puzzles, making you think in new and interesting ways of how to create zombies, harass them, bully them and kill them

35-90 minutes game time on each level - leaving you with a huge amount of puzzles, and many hours of gory creations and magic.

Spend your time building traps, zombie cyborgs, mechanical limbs and vehicles, find efficient ways to commit mass grave robbery, cut out hearts and guts and find new, and exciting uses for them, and many other gory and interesting puzzles.

Story

The game is very much story - and art - driven. The story, beneath all the gore and guts, the dark morbid humour and inappropriate jokes, the grave robbing and all of that - behind everything else, is a story about a lonely man. A man, Keith, driven to the edge by loneliness and far too much drink. He has no hope, no friends, no one to care for or to care for him.

It doesn't stay like that - his loneliness is what drives him to create the zombie cyborgs. We follow him and find out a little about where he came from, why he has no friends and see him fall in love, and dig his way, with help, out of the desperation and sadness he is in. He is a genius with no desire other than to help, and be accepted.

Its a story about humans being desperate, and wanting to live, no matter how weird and disturbed their minds are. They deal with sadness by ignoring it, they joke when they're at their lowest and hardly ever know what they're doing - but do it anyways, laughing and pretending they have every idea what it will do - hoping that it will work, and they love by being really awkward and having feelings that don't make any real sense.

The main Kickstarter is to fund the development of the initial game from September 2013, when I finish my degree, until the planned release of February 2014.

The funds will allow me to work on the game full time. Either way, I will work on it part time - however, this is the difference between it being made by February 2014, or several years in the future, and I would like to have it finished sooner, and I hope you would like to play it sooner rather than later.

The current main Kickstarter is not funding anything beyond the actual main game with 13 levels. There are plans for additions to the game and the storyline beyond this, and I will tell you about them now.

Currently I have planned out and have ideas for 4 additions to the game. These will all be released in the form of DLC's, with 5-8 levels each, again aiming for most people spending around 35 minutes on each level.

Three of them will be about back stories, about Keith - how he discovered his magic, his interest in cutting things up and seeing whats underneath the skin, about his desire to learn all kinds of things - how he built his castle, and how he lost his friends.

There will be one about Keith's love interest - her backstory, how she got onto Keith's flying ship, and who she really is and how she found family and friends in places no one else would.

And last of the back stories - Gregorius, Keith's butler. You see him in the trailer, with his facial tattoo and amazing suit, with a cut out tongue unable to speak. Before death he was a criminal of the worst kinds - hung for his crimes. Play through levels of robbing, pirating, scams, schemes and all kinds of evil crimes, and learn who is behind the impeccably dressed whiskey bringing wheeled tongueless man, Gregorius.

The fourth, without giving to much away of the end of the main game is set far in the future of the game. Keith is gone and all his creations are gone - but his Moon is still there, flying eternally through the skies. And someone finds it, boards it, and finds strange and wonderful things. Set in the same setting, but with perspectives from people who are (more or less) sane, this is meant to answer things that happened in the initial game, and give a different viewpoint to the story.

Each of these will have a production time of about 3 months, and are potential stretch goals - if the initial game is funded. If these are not reached, a second Kickstarter will be made specifically for these in the future.

Which one is made first will be up to you, the backers. If I'm getting close to funding the initial game, or a previous stretch goal a vote will be held, and you will decide what is made first.

Each will have a production time of 2-3 months, and production will start immediately when the game, or previous DLC has been finished.

This will cover the physical, limited rewards. All rewards above £20, will receive everything at the £20 level, and below.

£200 - Sketchbook

This is the sketchbook I use to jot down ideas about everything related to this game. Everything from concept art, UI design ideas, storyboards and gameplay ideas, even notes about this Kickstarter is in there, as well as some notes about ideas for the DLC's. Whenever I get an idea, and am not near my computer, it will go into this book. It is a look into how I have been thinking through the initial stages of each aspect of this game. While most of my work is done digitally, all my levels do start out as sketches, and everything else also start out - initially as pencil sketches.

I will continue to use this book through the process of creating the game, and when the book is filled up I will ship it to you. I can sign it upon request.

Alternatively, if the book is not filled up by the finish there are three options I can do for you:

Either I can fill it with sketches either related to the game, or just sketching - this is up with you.

I can leave the remaining pages empty.

Or - if a DLC is being made - I can use it for continued development if its not filled up.

Below are some of the very quick, messy sketches in the book - some from scrapped ideas, others from things I developed further digitally.

The sketchbook itself is a normal black, hardcover sketchbook.

£500 - You as a Steampunk Zombie

I will create a digital painting of you, as a steampunk zombie at the same level of quality of the zombies in the game, and print this in A3, and ship it to you. You will be required to send me a picture of yourself, and if you have any specific requests such as how heavily mechanical you would like it to be and if there is anything specific you would like, I will do my best to draw your steampunk zombie portrait to your specification.

Your zombie will also have a part in the zombie horde in the actual game.

Note that I will not draw anything else than a portrait of you (Or whomever is in the picture you send me) with this reward - if you would like just a portrait or a different kind of picture, you may contact me with your idea and I will see about doing it for you at my normal rates.

The picture can be signed upon request.

For shipping to the US, please add £30.

£1000 - You as a highly polished, high resolution Steampunk Zombie

Again I will draw you as a steampunk zombie - however this will be in a highly polished, high resolution version that will take several times longer to create than the zombies in the game, or the portraits for the previous reward, at a much higher resolution. This will be printed out, in A2 format - and if you want me to, framed - and then shipped to you.

Your zombie will also have a part in the zombie horde in the actual game, and if a DLC is created, you will be included as a character.

Note that I will not draw anything else than a portrait of you (Or whomever is in the picture you send me) with this reward - if you would like just a portrait or a different kind of picture, you may contact me with your idea and I will see about doing it for you at my normal rates.

The picture can be signed upon request.

Amund Farifteh

So who am I, the bearded tattooed creator of this game.

I'm 23 year old from Norway, studying in Middlesbrough UK. I am doing a Masters of Concept Art for Games and Animation at Teesside university, and I have a Bachelor of Games Art from Teesside as well.

I have been working on this game for my MA studies for a long time, as part of a pre production module where just simple concepts and ideas were thought up, and since the 10th of June full time as my MA dissertation.

I have been playing games my entire life, and have been drawing my entire life, and to me the two are entirely connected. I have been drawing the games I wanted to play since I was 7 years old, and kept doing so until now. Earlier this year, during the Animex Festival held at Teesside Uni, I spoke to several great people in the games and animation industry and they inspired me to get to the point I am now, where I am presenting it to you. The brilliant concept that if you have an awesome idea that you think people will want to play or see, you just need to do it, create it, and if it is as awesome as you think it is, it will work. And I think my idea is pretty awesome - and I hope you do too

If you want to contact me for whatever reason, questions about the games, feedback for it, whatever - I welcome it, an appreciate it.

Thank you for reading this, and I hope you enjoyed the demo and share my idea for this game, and want to play it as much as I want to make it. It will be impossible for me to make this without you, as people wanting to play my game is what drives me to want to make it.

Risks and challenges

I believe that the proof that I can finish the game, is in my demo level. Having created that, all I need to do is create the artwork for the remaining levels, and using the same code that I have already successfully used 12 more times.

Currently I am able to work on it full time. This ends in september, and I will need to live on something while working on it. Not much, but something. If I can't work on it full time, it will still be made, but it will be less than ideal, and it will not be finished for a long time. And that is why I am here, because I want it finished soon.

This game, to me is currently my most important thing I have created so far, and I am utterly dedicated to it, and will spend all my time on making sure it is completed. The basis that I will be able to do that is in my degrees - I have spend the past 4 years of my life getting my BA first, and now my MA, solely dedicated to getting them. This is has been doing projects that were dull, boring and doing things I had no interest in, writing mile long reports as well as hard work and deadlines throughout, but i did all of it, for an idea and a paper. Before that the idea of making games has been in me since I was 11, and I have never stepped away from that goal and worked devotedly towards it, improving my art and learning new skills all the time. This project is something I thoroughly enjoy every single minute of working on, that I love as much as a creator can love his creations, and am thoroughly invested and interested in working, and is something I have worked towards for over half of my life - my own game. I thoroughly believe I will not have any problems staying invested, dedicated and motivated towards finishing this for the months it will take me, and I thank you for having faith in me.
