Kickstarter campaign feedback and retail update

Hello Perfect Prions!

The board game is now on sale across the UK and the US, and can be picked up either via Amazon or from your FLGS (that’s Friendly Local Game Store, for the uninitiated!). It’s time for us to take a step back after the hectic release period and look at just how everything has gone up to this point.

What did you think of our Kickstarter campaign?

Firstly - I want to get your opinion on how our Kickstarter campaign went. Feedback from the community has always been a hugely important aspect of bringing the board game to life for me, so think of this as you giving me a report card so I know what went well and what you might want done differently in the future.

Give us your verdict here!

The retail report

Things are going incredibly well with the retail launch so far - we sold out of almost all our stock within the first week! The majority of our first production run went to the US with smaller amounts going to the UK and Canada and it’s been really exciting to discover how selling goods to various distributors and Amazon works.

Initial feedback from players has been overwhelmingly positive which also makes a huge difference. If you haven’t already, please give us a review over on Board Game Geek - every review helps!

(If you don't like the game - you can send me feedback on what changes you would like to see in an expansion here boardgame@ndemiccreations.com)

Future plans

Right now I’m planning our second wave of production and beyond that I’m also looking at options for wider foreign language distribution in Europe. This is something I’d really love to do, so I’m hoping it’s possible!

Going forward, I'm also working on a Kickstarter blog / post-mortem summing up how everything went and lessons learnt, so look forward to that!

In the meantime: stay healthy!

James

P.S. Once you have played the game - please consider rating it over at Board Game Geek here. Word of mouth is incredibly important for the long term success of the game (and future expansion packs) and we can't do it without you!

Here's my idea for the Fungus Pathogen.

Instead of skipping the infection phase to move one of your tokens from one country to another, you can instead skip the infection phase to place one token from your pool onto a random country that you don't infect (ignoring climate/suitable). This would essentially mean that the fungus can't be wiped out except during the end game, and is represented by spores lingering in the air. Call this ability Spore Burst.

Make the ability to the left of Spore Burst be Spore Hardening. Have that give heat resistance and cold resistance but -1 infectivity. This will be used to represent the fungal hardiness but difficulty of spreading. It gives you the choice of giving up heat/cold to gain back that infectivity. You essentially start with 1 infectivity.

As for the top right ability, I haven't thought of that yet, but when I do I'll post it.

I've been running the game at my FLGS and meetups and at a bunch of cons I'm attending. Super fun.

Love the game and a friend have said that it became his favorite. Only problem i have is the board. Which is hard to flatten and likes to bend like a bridge from the middle out.

Great to hear the game is doing so well, I'd be so keen for an expansion!

I don't know if you could tell by my response, but just in case I wasn't clear... EXPANSION! I want to kill the world with more then Viruses and Bacteria

Well done, a great game that deserves all this success and more!
