About this project
Memoirs of Fatherhood: This is the story of being raised by the heavy hands of my father then raised up by the loving heart of my son.
In this deeply moving, personal account, a father vividly recounts his dark childhood during the interview of his life, a journey that takes him from the small Caribbean island of Trinidad, around the world, and back. Struggling to break free from his past, he is brought to his knees and broken into pieces then put back together by his son who teaches him the art of true forgiveness and unconditional love. Determined to break his family's cycle of dysfunction, he challenges core traditional parenting techniques by practicing a new form of discipline — patience, affection and compassion. His deep conviction leads him through a maze of profound self discovery and ultimately helps him find what he, and many of us have been desperately searching for—a parent’s love, true self-worth and happiness.

Our Campaign and Timeline
This memoir has been my labor of love for the past 6 years. The great news is the manuscript is finally finished, I even have a proof! But now we REALLY need your help to have it edited and published.
We are hoping to raise funds to have our book of 20 chapters and 220 pages edited professionally, produce a polished book cover, purchase ISBN numbers, self publish with options like print on demand and for marketing needs, such as a website, social media presence, PR and media campaigns, and for book giveaways and promotions.
Our goal is to have it ready for shipping in time Father's Day , June 18th, 2017. We know it's a tight deadline but we are about 90% completed to a final product.
A Non-Violent Approach to Parenting
Our goal is really simple guys, to make a difference and help parents heal so their children don’t have to. We want to get this book to as many unhealed parents and children as possible and we desperately need your help to do that.
Our story is proof that we, especially fathers, can raise the most respectful, caring, well-behaved children full of validation, confidence, happiness and love without using an ounce of violence, shame, aggression or fear. My son is known for being one of he happiest and most peaceful kids in school and amongst his peers.
I was encouraged to write this book by friends, parents, teachers, coaches and therapists because they knew his mom and I were taking a much different, successful approach to parenting than the one many of us are used to. They felt it was important for a male to tell this story to the world.
All too often we leave it up to mothers to show and teach the affection, softness, nurturing attention and love our children crave from BOTH parents. When they don't receive it from a father our children grow up looking for it in other people. Then the cycle repeats itself with every generation. We can break the cycle. Just imagine what our world would look like if fathers (and men) were more affectionate, attentive and compassionate towards their children.
My name is Ricardo Daximillion and this book was inspired by my son, Kingston. Click HERE to see our Facebook. This is our very first Kickstarter campaign and this is my first book. I am not a seasoned writer but I do write from my heart. Over 40 people (both friends and strangers) have read the draft and the feedback has been really good, with everyone encouraging me to publish insisting the message is so important.
I was born in Barbados, however, grew up on the small Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. In the 1980s my family moved to Florida; they eventually all moved back but I remained. I lived in New York City, Denver, Chicago and Seattle before settling down in San Diego, California some 16 years ago. I have been an entrepreneur for most of that period with businesses in real estate, antiques/consignments, app development, and my favorite, The Cookie Sandwich Co. My passions in life are traveling the world, inventing and creating, and being a father to my beautiful 9 year old son and teacher, Kingston Chance.
Thank so much for your support Kickstarter and we look forward to reaching our goal with your help!
Risks and challenges
This is our first time self-publishing. We will try our best to make sure that our avenues for preparing and shipping are all set up properly. I have a lot of experience with internet orders and shipping fulfillment so I hope there aren't any delays.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
