Let's face it. There are few things cuter than a kid in pajamas.
Some of my favorite moments in my career of caring for children have been getting little people in their pajamas, reading stories, and snuggling before bed.
I want to live in a world full of those moments, and I am starting Joeys for Kids to help families experience them: through one awesome pair of pajamas and through the power of adoption.
With Joeys for Kids, 15% of each sale will help provide support for families in the adoption process.
So as you enjoy the night-time ritual of wrestling your kiddos into Joeys for Kids pajamas, you can know that your purchase has helped another family experience the same.
Things have been moving since late last year to get Joeys for Kids off the ground.
We have a wonderful friend out of Fairhope, AL creating the artwork for our pajamas (see below), an incredible agency out of Seattle, WA doing our branding and design work, and a production partner in Portland, OR working on the pajama pattern and prototype.
With your help, however, we will be able to fully launch Joeys for Kids to begin selling pajama and making a huge impact in the lives of children and families.
A successful Kickstarter campaign will help us do the following:
- complete our pajama designs to go from sample to large scale production
- prepare our digital resources, including product photography
- finalize marketing materials and packaging
- gear up for business with needed office items
- cover other necessary business costs
Joeys for Kids pajamas (made right here in the U.S.A) will capture a sense of cute, clever, and fun.
In this spirit, our very first line will feature animals in very human situations and ironic circumstances.
Think Alligators wearing raincoats. Sheep cutting each other's hair. You get the point.
We not only want kids to love wearing Joeys for Kids pajamas, but we also want parents to be able share in the smiles.
We will start by offering pajama separates (sizes 2T-5T) for toddlers. But with your help, we would love to offer one-piece footie pajamas for infants as well!
While there are wonderful donor-based organizations offering financial support to families who are adopting, requirements for application are often very limiting, and most of the supply quickly dries up in the face of overwhelming demand.
We believe that Joeys for Kids can exist as a more consistent means of support for adoptive families. Because our ability to provide assistance will be dependent not upon donations, but upon the purchase of an everyday product: one that we think every parent would agree is in high demand. ;)
In the first stage of this model, we will be giving directly to families through various adoption agencies.
As the business grows over the coming years, however, we hope to launch an official sister non-profit that can provide adoption grants directly to individuals.
Thank you so much for your support. We are so excited to share this journey with you!

Risks and challenges
In our search for a large-scale U.S. production partner and given the uniqueness of our business model, getting production costs in line will be a challenge.
While we would LOVE to be up and running before Christmas 2015, we want to first ensure we are delivering a remarkable product. This process takes time, and there is always the risk of delay in production.
