After being diagnosed with diabetes, physicians tell you how to live a calculated, restricted life based on a formula. Diabetes Daily Grind is opening up the door to the pursuit of people's real lives with diabetes. As kids we were always told what we couldn't do. We've done it. We will continue to do it.
We document life's curve balls thrown to us each day. Our unfiltered posts will give you a look into what diabetics are dealing with; keg parties, traveling abroad, business luncheons, first dates, one night stands, vegan eating, and running marathons.
We are not experts, just real-lifers sharing stories. Along the journey we will present challenges to those physicians and experts who have always told us to "just carb count". Can physicians match up with us diabetics when it comes to treating a disease outside of the textbook? Or when you have the flu? Or when you just ran 10 miles?
Our vision is for those with diabetes to never ask themselves, "What would my life have been like without diabetes?" Asking that question gives the disease more power than it deserves. We own our life. Join us.
Risks and challenges
Creating an online community is tough. If you fail to create a supportive community, your website fails. Plain and simple. Here's how we plan to succeed:
If you have diabetes, you get it. We support each other because no one knows what it's like except us. DiabetesDailyGrind adds a distinct flavor to the current diabetes scene - real, applicable support. We'll collaborate with other sites to provide a complete picture of support for people with diabetes. We'll be there for our readers when they need us - when they expect us to deliver.
DiabetesDailyGrind will never place the site's needs in front of the diabetes community's. We understand that we are just one voice in a web of significant contributors. Because of this, we will stay grounded in our organic mission to help others live their best lives.
We understand that challenges lie ahead. We have surrounded ourselves with a group that believes in our mission. This group believes in us equally as much as we believe in ourselves. Their composition of marketing, design, and financial support will carry us through tough moments.
We respect the future hardships but are not fearful. We're excited.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
