Where are the new holiday songs?
I have to admit, I really, really love Christmas music. Specifically, I've always been drawn to the jazzy "couples" songs - "Let it Snow", "Winter Wonderland", etc. I mean, the cold season has a romance unlike any other time of the year, don't you think?
After singing holiday tunes four nights a week last December at the National Harbor (DC) with Swinglab, it became clear to me that the music world needs some new songs like these. I was thinking of new songs that feel familiar and in the style.
I began writing early this year and have five originals ready to record in August, 2012. I intend to round out the album with some popular and some underplayed covers - each one with something special and with vocals east of Sinatra, west of King Cole. A big band chart is in the works and a cabaret jazz feeling for most.
Fans have been asking for an album for two years, and I think this will be the perfect gift debut.
