I have had the honor and pleasure on creating a new album over the past 2 years titled "Bones Will Last". Through the extensive writing and recording process I have found greater strength in my own voice, and developed a sound that feels uniquely mine. The album is a collection of 10 songs. Five of them are lyric driven songs and five are instrumental compositions. For the first time, I feel I have been able to bridge my love of songwriting and my love of composition along with my roots in both classical and traditional folk music. What has emerged is a lyrical, harmonic collection of my music. I hope it is able to transcend genres and bring peace, inspiration and joy to the listeners. I worked with three of my favorite musical compatriots on this album: Zak Borden on mandolin, Allen Hunter on bass and Don Henson. These three men have been with me through the entire process of making this album and have been steadfast, inventive, patient and all of them delivered such beautiful performances.
Now I am ready to get it out to the world and am asking for help from friends and fans to do this. I will be printing both physical CDs and vinyl for the project. Your contribution makes the final push of producing this record possible. You can simply just pre-order the album or vinyl. Since the album won't officially be released in the US until February 2017, you will have a chance to obtain the album before everyone else. I will have download cards to everyone that contributes by the end of the year.
If you wish to go beyond just pre-ordering the album, there are some cool incentives for you including lessons, workshops and private house concerts. I hope there will be something for everyone!
Thank you in advance for your help. I couldn't do it without you and your continued love and support is so greatly appreciated.
To quote the title track of the album:
"Raise a glass, it's all we have. For tonight has become tomorrow. Fear the flood, the rush of blood, we'll be gone, but our bones will last".
Risks and challenges
Of course there is always risk in putting work out into the world. Will people want it? Will people buy it? Will people like it? This is the first project I have ever released on vinyl and of course there is a bit of nervousness about that. But mostly, I feel excited and confident that people will want to listen to this album on vinyl. Thank you for believing in me and this project!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
