Half-way! Will Self, Radio Oxford, 300% and more

Posted by Marcus Gipps (Creator)

Dear all

Well, today marked the half-way point of the campaign, and we're sitting very pretty at over 300%. The last few days have been quiet, but I know a lot of you are new to kickstarter - it's perfectly normal for things to go slowly at this point, and hopefully we'll have a big rush at the end of the month. I have a few things lined up to help - more media etc - and I've been promised by my printer that they'll get me the quote I need to work out stretch goals to help drive us along soon. Next week is London Book Week, however, and most of publishing - including myself and my printer - decamp to Earls Court, so the end of next week is more likely.

That said, I have some things to announce - firstly, I'm thrilled to announce that Will Self - Booker-shortlisted novelist, broadcaster, journalist, man of letters - will be providing us with a small piece on Uncle. I'm thrilled - he was always on my wishlist, and he's kindly managed to squeeze some time out of his schedule for me. I was also contacted by Judith Longstreth and Matthew Oates, who were JP Martin's great-niece and -nephew, and to whom UNCLE was dedicated. They are going to provide me with a short piece about their memories of JP.

They contacted me after seeing the Points West news piece - see last update - so media coverage can work!

On that note, here's a clip (not very good quality - sorry) from Radio Oxford on Sunday morning - uses some of the same material as the previous pieces, but there's some new stuff in there as well. Hopefully we'll get some more coverage in the neat future!

As ever, I can only be incredibly grateful that you've all supported this project, and reiterate how excited I am to get these wonderful books back into print. And as always, please tell your friends or send them here - the more the merrier!

More soon,

Marcus
