Meet Remo, the Universal Smart Controller for Room ACs
Nature Remo transforms any window-mounted or through-the-wall air conditioner into a smart air conditioner. You can remotely turn on via smart phone, pre-set different temperatures for different times, or set the unit to automatically turn off based on the motion sensor.

What Can Remo Do?
Remo mobile app tracks your geo-location allowing us to automatically turn on your AC before you get home, and turn off your AC when nobody is present in a particular room. Remo's location awareness allows you to arrive at a cool home and at the same time you get to avoid cooling empty rooms.
Works with ANY AC
Compatible with any AC
Remo currently supports any AC with a remote control. Remo purchased after December 2016 will support ACs that do not have remotes (see Remo Power Plug section for detail).
AC Compatibility & Remote Database
Remo works with AC brands from all over the world, including those popular in North American, Europe, Japan, and other countries.
No Wires, No Screws, and Pre-programmed for your AC
Start using Remo just by connecting to home WiFi. No wires, no screws, and its pre-programmed to communicate with existing ACs.
How it Works
Remo uses infrared commands to communicate with existing ACs.
What Inspires Nature to Create Remo
Nature develops solutions to create harmony between people and nature. Nature's current focus is improving residential energy management with intelligent AC control and peak energy management.
A century ago, the Industrial Revolution radically changed the way humans interact with the earth. As the world economy grows, we are approaching the limits of natural systems to accommodate our needs. At Nature, we believe that we can deliver superior services to society and reduce stress on the environment simultaneously. In other words, we make products that improve people's lives AND the world that they live in.
Who We Are
Haruumi Shiode / Founder and CEO
Haruumi holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. Prior to HBS, Haruumi worked for Mitsui & Co., investing in Silicon Valley start-up and large scale, international power plants. Haruumi also earned his Masters in Computer Science at KTH in Sweden, and his Bachelors in Electronics in Japan. He developed his first computer program, similar to Space Invader, in 7th grade.
Mash Ohtsuka / Founder and CTO
Mash independently developed “IRKit”, an open source smart IR controller which sold nearly 10,000 units. Prior to IRKit, Mash worked for Panasonic, and designed & developed a number of successful web services at Kayac (web service producer in Japan), including “Koebu”, “lobi”, “wonderful”, and “jsdo.it”. Mash earned his Bachelors in Computer Science in Japan.

Technical Specs
Nature Remo Controller:
It intelligently controls your AC through infrared, powered via the accompanying wall plug.
Open API / Integrations
Nature will grant access to Nature Remo’s API so developers can program Nature Remo to interact with other IoT devices. Moreover, Nature will provide IFTTT (If This Then That), and Amazon Alexa integrations.
These integrations will open up your Remo and your AC to a new world of possibilities. Remo and IFTTT will enable you to control your AC using a triggering event such as Android/iPhone location updates, predefined schedules, and even through SMS, Twitter, and Facebook, and 300+ other services. The possibilities are endless.

Remo Power Plug (not included in the current release)
Remo Power Plug is expected to be released by December 2016. The Power Plug replaces the wall plug and allows Remo to control ACs without remotes. Although the design for the Power Plug is almost complete, Nature is working to obtain UL certification and test the device. We will notify backers about the release once the Power Plug is ready.
The Power Plug has following features:
Project Schedule
December 2014 – Built concept and founded company
August 2015 – Built first prototype with IRKit
February 2016 – Built second prototype with own PCB
April 2016 – Finalized hardware design
May 2016 – Launch Kickstarter campaign and refine firmware
June 2016 – Campaign ends, refine mobile app, and order components
July 2016 – Production starts, obtain certifications for Remo Controller (FCC)
August/September 2016 – Delivery to the Kickstarter customers
September 2016 - Obtain certifications for Remo Power Plug (UL and PSE)
December 2016 – Launch Remo Power Plug
Risques et défis
AC Remotes
In order to make the Nature Remo device simple to set up, we are putting in countless hours to build up our own database of remote controllers. While our custom in-house solution is designed to identify your AC remote with the push of just a couple of buttons, there is a possibility that some specific model may need additional infrared codes. If this issue arises, we may need you to manually set up those codes.
Smart Phone
Another aspect is the diverse quantity of smartphones around the world. If phone is a recent model, produced by a known manufacturer, there will be no issues using our app. However, there is a slight possibility that some specific model might need some changes in the code. We will do our best to address these issues as quickly as possible, as they come to our attention. Any feedback is highly appreciated.
Production of Hardware
During the last months we have worked extensively on research and testing of all aspects around the PCB board and its enclosure. One challenge we might face are unforeseeable issues arising from suppliers not meeting their projected lead times for selected components.
