Stretch Goal 1 ($4000): Bonus Four-Page Story!
If we manage to hit our first stretch goal, we will produce an additional four-page story featuring another of Mel's paranormal investigations! This story will be included in every copy of Finding Peace, adding more value to your contribution at no additional charge!
THE CREATIVE TEAM
Writer Jordan Alsaqa is an N.C. State graduate with a degree in Creative Writing. A frequent contributor to numerous websites, including TV Equals and The Joy of Geek, Jordan also served as the Features Editor for Technician, focusing on entertainment writing. His first major comic project, Terminal Protocol, was successfully funded on Kickstarter in December 2015, and was published by Scout Comics in 2017. You can keep up with Jordan’s other projects on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.
Marie Enger was the colorist on Pistolwhip and 2 Sisters, IS the colorist on Regression, and letters Dept. H and Table Titans (Fallen Veil!). In her spare time, she draws a lot of punk shit for punk bands and self-publishes horror comics (We are in a Dark Place and Punx Win!). You might have seen her "ALL WEREWOLVES MUST GO" project for Inktober last year, which permanently left her cursed to draw werewolves for the rest of her career. She's got lots and lots of unannounced, still super secret, projects in the works. You can follow her work on Twitter or at her personal website.
The biggest chunk of the funds – approximately $1400 – will be put towards the printing of the complete issue. Next, we’ve got $480 to handle shipping and additional minor printing costs. While all artwork has been completed for the main story, an additional $250 has been budgeted to compensate Marie for the completion of our two Kickstarter-exclusive art prints. Similarly, $750 has been budgeted to pay our various guest artists who've created a series of pin-ups to be featured in the back of the book. Finally, the last $320 will go towards paying the necessary 10% Kickstarter fees.
Below, you can check out some of our guest pin-ups for the book. More will be revealed as the campaign goes on!
2. Max Miller Dowdle (An Unlikely Refugee)
5. Matt Kindt (Dept. H, Grass Kings)
6. Rem Broo (The End Times of Bram & Ben, Terminal Protocol)
At this level, you’ll receive not only our appreciation and thanks, but also full access to the Finding Peace backer updates, including additional previews and news. Further, your name will be included on the Thank You page in the book.
At this level, you’ll be sent a PDF version of the final comic. We are in no way responsible for any hauntings your computer, tablet, or smartphone are plagued with as a result.
If you’re like us and like the feel of a printed comic in your hands, this is the level for you. Your reward package will now include a physical copy of the book, signed by writer Jordan Alsaqa.
Get that extra bit of Finding Peace swag with a sticker of the story's ghost, Joanna, and a random paranormal button featuring spooky icon art by artist Marie Enger.
More art is always a good thing, so why not take your pick of one of the two Kickstarter-exclusive art prints created by Marie?
I agree, it is tough to choose just a single chilling image to go with. So go with this level to avoid choosing at all and grab them both!
There’s nothing like some original art to make a reward extra special. At this level, you’ll receive a 5x7 ghost sketch created and signed by Marie. The specter you recieve will be random, but they’re all guaranteed to terrify your friends and haunt your nightmares.
Want something specific from the wider world of horror? Then try this level, which will allow you to request any horror character or creature for Marie to sketch at 8.5x11 size. You’ll also receive all rewards from the Double Art Print Edition.
Take things to an even grander, more gruesome scale! At this level, you'll recieve a full 11x17 digital commission of a horror character of your choice, fully digitally colored. You’ll also receive all rewards from the Double Art Print Edition.
You really love supporting indie horror comics, don’t you? Excellent, so do we! And in celebration of that mutual love, this level will bump up the 11x17 digitally colored commission to include a background. You’ll also receive all rewards from the Double Art Print Edition.
From the lowest pledge level to the top, every single backer will receive our deep, genuine gratitude for helping us bring this project to life. We’ve crafted a fun, fast-paced horror comic and character that we truly think you’ll enjoy.
Risks and challenges
As with any printing project, the possibility of pricing changes could affect estimates, but everything has been accounted for with well-considered buffers. However, with the plan being to go to print within a few weeks to a month of the campaign’s conclusion, this shouldn’t be an issue.
Also, Jordan’s first Kickstarter was successfully completed with only minor delays, with all rewards delivered in a timely fashion once printing was complete. That experience has led to a more polished, tightly planned project here that aims to deliver in a much shorter time frame.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
