Help us with the push to $4500 for mastering of the new music! We met our goal of $4000, now we can finish the Kickstarter with enough over our goal to have these new songs mastered! If we reach $5000 we'll have enough to print CD's for those who still love to hold on to something physical.
Alyssa and John have been creating music as This Side of Eve for well over a decade but these new songs show a newly found musical and lyrical depth. We're recording but we can't complete our new work without you.
Over the years we've worked with friends and various band-mates to record three full length albums and played hundreds of times in the Pittsburgh area. Check out new and not-so-new work of of ours at http://thissideofeve.bandcamp.com or take a listen to some of our previously released songs below, like "These Streets Alone"...
Now, in the midst of new-found musical passion and creativity, we're recording. Check out a demo version of a brand new song below.
And a song from our 2018 instrumental album Solace.
After a bit of a hiatus, aka raising three kids, starting a farm and working full time jobs in the city, we are back to writing, recording and playing our music and we're making it a priority in our lives. These new songs have come from the heart and been birthed out of the solace of music in the midst of deep struggle and pain. We believe these are the best songs we've ever written. We're excited to share these new songs with you and believe they will work their restorative magic in your lives as they have in ours. We've already begun the work of recording in our home studio (you can hear some of that in the video above) and we will be professionally recording a series of songs this summer in Nashville with friend, producer and musician Jeremy Casella. We need your help to finish the recording, mixing and mastering. This EP length release will lead to more recording of a full length album in 2019 if all goes as planned.
The plan is to travel to Nashville, TN to record with Jeremy and some amazing musicians, some we've desired to work with for many years, and some brand new partners. We'll choose some of our best new songs and work with Jeremy to produce, record, and engineer in a way we've never had the opportunity for in the past. We have enough new music to record two full length albums, so the more support we get from you the more songs we will work on while in Nashville. John will write about the adventure on his blog, so stay tuned there.
Many of the songs we'll be working on come out of the past year of struggle for us both. Over the past 18 months we've faced the hardest life situations of our marriage, for our family and in our communities. These songs reflect the pain, doubt and struggle we have both faced. Through this struggle we think some great music has been created and still has the opportunity to be created with your help. Please consider supporting this project.
Risks and challenges
Timing of this project is our greatest challenge. Our lives are in still in flux but our commitment to creating music together remains. Our windows of opportunity to work with Jeremy in Nashville are July 2018 and December 2018. In the mean time we will be playing house shows, continuing to write, recording in our home studio and leading worship at The Open Door Church.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
