Update February 24, 2014:
We got a nice write up on WatchUSeek.com which is one of our favorite go to sites for the latest watch news. It's one of the leading horological sites available and it's a must visit for anyone who loves wristwatches. The write up is titled "This is how we roll: Genesee Weekly Planner Watch Roll."
End of February 24, 2014 update.
We are crazy about watches, but needed a practical and secure way of transporting and storing our growing watch collection. Like most of you, we have more than one watch, but could not find the perfect watch roll. We got tired of packing them in individual pouches and then having to open each one of them to find what we were looking for. So we decided to design and create the ultimate watch roll with a weekly planner. When traveling, most people carry more than one pair of underwear and socks, we do the same with watches. Any other way would be offensive. We like to be prepared for every occasion and have the right watch on hand for business meetings with clients or casual dinners with friends. Wearing the right watch at the right time can make an impression or help you seal the deal. Since you can't travel with your house, car, or artwork, you might as well travel with the right timepieces for the right occasions. We thought it would be a great idea to create the perfect watch roll with the days of the week, so we could plan our watch week perfectly.
We started sketching our ideas of what would make an ultimate watch roll.
We chose canvas as our medium, as it is one of the most durable and practical materials available. The canvas is soft and will accommodate seven wristwatches with cases up to 45mm not including the crown. The top folding flap will give you a layer of protection so the watches will not touch each other. The leather tie keeps the roll securely closed. As an extra feature we decided to create an additional slot for a small pin pusher tool. Each roll will display our logo on the inside flap and the days of the week screen printed on the slots. This will be the perfect roll to store and transport your watches. These color combinations will only be available on Kickstarter as a Limited Edition. We have enclosed pictures of the rolls with some wrist watches and pin tools for you to have an idea of the type of watches these rolls can accommodate.
After having made the watch roll prototypes, we realized we needed to make some adjustments. The hole for the leather tie needs to be reinforced with a metal ring or extra stitching. This will be addressed during final production.
Even though the leather cord ties around the roll filled with watches perfectly, we think it should be a little longer. A longer leather cord will be on the final version.
Other changes may occur due to continuous refinement to make this the ultimate watch roll.
Several backers have asked me about storing over sized vintage military watches. One option would be to invert the largest watch and slide the strap into the slot. I designed a large enough top fold for you to accommodate watches of different heights. I have added these pictures for you to have an idea of the storage possibilities.
This is the perfect organizer for storage or travel. Other than watches, you can store and transport some of your other collectibles, such as pens, lighters, jewelry, and what ever else you can dream of. Please help us make this project come to life by sharing it with your friends and family through Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We appreciate your support.
Who is Genesee Watch Co?
GWC is lead by me, Angela Chan, a serial entrepreneur. I've liked watches and cars since I was a teenager. I've been fortunate enough to be involved in both fields during my adult life. I decided to create things that are tactile and that have a long term relationship with the end user. Through this process of creating the ultimate watch roll, I've gain deep respect and great appreciation for all craftsmen that practice their craft with passion and integrity. In the great American spirit, if there's a need for it, you create it. Thank you for your support.

Risks and challenges
We are very confident in the design and very happy with the team we chose. The prototype versions we made have been tested and function as expected.
We need your support to reach our goal. If we can successfully fund this project, we will start the production promptly to ensure that we can fulfill all the orders within our estimated time frame. There are always risks in life, but this project should be fairly straight forward. We believe we have allowed plenty of time for the watch rolls to be built and shipped out to you. We believe communication is key so you will be kept updated with the progress of the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
