Solace was inspired by the hustle and bustle of city life. All the sights, sounds, smells, people, feelings and emotions that it evokes. Sometimes to drown everything around you out, you'd plug in your headphones and it takes you somewhere else. But what if we could be further immersed at times where we really need it? What if we added a degree of tactility and blocked out visual distractions as well? These ideas inspired Solace.
Solace started out as a medley of different things. There where various concepts thrown out such as jackets, scarves, umbrella type objects etc. Eventually the jacket concepts central focus was the hood. All the hoods had an element of sound, but it also became the perfect vehicle for Solace. In addition to providing sound the user partially blocks out the view of your surroundings.
From there, Solace was sketched out and prototyped into various styles and ideas of a hood. It eventually came down to what Solace is today. A simple and iconic look of a hoodie with headphones built in.
Solace is machine washable and features a hidden zipper to easily access and remove headphones. Velcro patches make placement and removal of headphone quick and easy
The outside of the hood is made of water resistant fabric, enabling it to withstand daily environmental factors.
Inside of the hood is lined with cotton fabric making it comfortable for you to wear.
Internal layers of the hood features a lightweight batting to give you some cushion, should you need to rest your head.
Cord can be retracted into the hood for storage when not in use.
Solace will be available in Gray, Black, White, Orange, Sky Blue and Yellow.
Where We Are Now
Currently we have the manufacturer on stand by. All the tech packs and samples have been created and finalized. All we need now is your help. If we can meet a minimum order of 250 units, we can put Solace into production. The more funds we are able to raise, we can keep the production costs to a minimum and thus be able to lower the costs of Solace so that everyone can enjoy it.
In the future we would like to be able make Solace in a greater variety of fabrics and styles to fit every one of our unique users. We would also like to create children's versions of Solace, as we see children as our next market for Solace.

Risks and challenges
As with any project that involves manufacturing there are a number of potential sticking points along the way. I have already received a number of samples from our manufacturer to make sure the final Solace hoods are made to the highest standard. I am also taking advantage of the Sector team's experience in managing production and fulfillment, they will work with me and the manufacturer to make sure everything runs smoothly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
