About this project
badmarmar dance will present their first evening length work tenSIDES at Velocity Dance Center in Seattle on April 27 & 28, 2012.
The dance began with a table. And chairs. No - it began earlier than props. The dance began with the dancers. No - the dance was taking form even before all the dancers were in place. The dance began with a desire to connect. By exploring ten universally-expressed emotions that drive people's everyday actions, choreographer Marlo Martin allows glimpses into deeply personal stories and insights into the experiences we create. Her world is her dancers' world, is her audiences' world; this binds us all together as people.
badmarmar's now signature fierce and emotional dancing finds itself fully fleshed out and realized with tenSIDES. After presenting various (re)incarnations since September, the company is thrilled to bring the entire story to life. tenSides, as a complete work, explores love, hate, lust, apathy, honesty, shame, hope, despair, altruism, and malice. These are all pretty loaded words – heavy words. And yet, they are basic. Everyone experiences them.
The performers are: Danica Bito, Gabriel Bruya, Jennifer Elder, Alex Goldstein, Christina Kennedy, Jill Leversee, Nadia Losonsky, Christin Lusk, Anne Motl and Michele O'Neill.
Lighting Design: Dani Prados
This Kickstarter campaign will help cover the costs of production and performance fees for this large, fearless cast, as well as the costs of professional videography, photography, costumes (those sleek, black ensembles!) and props (chairs! so many chairs!).
We so appreciate any amount you can offer to support this project.
