Customized Wooden Pens
Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking the time to view my kickstarter campaign. I hope you enjoy looking at the pens I have available. This project offers you the opportunity to select your favorite pen style and wood species to craft your own personal writing instrument. You will find the backer rewards below followed by information about why I am here at kickstarter and a bit about who I am.
About the new work:
Omega pens usher in a very high end line. Available in both rollerball and fountain pen they feature Swarovski crystal inset, rhodium and black titanium high polish metal finish and beautifuly detailed casting. These are the finest pens I make.
Sigma has the convenience of the one handed click while looking super sleek and refined. This pen comes with both ballpoint and gel refills.
Epsilon has a classic industrial feel and a twist extraction mechanism. The knurl details are attractive and functional. They catch the eye and set this pen apart from the others while also offering an amazing grip. A ballpoint and gel refill come with this pen.
Theta is an elegant twist pen with a Cross style ballpoint refill. A favorite among customers who want the solid reliability of a ballpoint pen that stands out as classy and distinguished.
returning from my last campaign are:
Apexthe all time favorite with it's straight forward clean design and magnetic cap. This pen is available in a rollerball with a Schneider Topball 850 refill or a medium fountain nib complete with ink converter and a black ink cartridge.
Safari bolt action pen is fun, stylish and very different than your average pen. This solid and sturdy pen comes with both ballpoint and get refills.
If you love the style of the Sigma, Epsilon and Safari but don't prefer a ballpoint, good news is that gel refills fit each of those styles and come in many colors and point sizes.

My experience working with kickstarter has been excellent. This format allows me to precisely order and produce limited edition releases. As a one person business so much time can be lost shipping piece meal here and there throughout the week. The efficiency I
The kickstarter community is amazing! The kindness and encouragement I have found here has no rival. I love micro blogging to my backers with weekly updates and photos. Doing that keeps me accountable and feeling connected to everyone.
Not to mention the international exposure. Reaching customers as far away as Japan, Australia, Germany, Ireland, Hong Kong and so many more is a key aspect of kickstarter.
This will be the last pen campaign this year.
If we see success again this time then I plan to have all rewards shipped by September. That will leave me smack in the middle of my busy holiday season which will take me into next year. So....
If you are thinking you would like to purchase one of my pens any time between now and April 2016, please order now. I am sorry but I won't be making more pens this year.
As a full time woodworker I have other established clients and ongoing projects. If you are curious about my other goings on, please see my Instagram feed @_amy_grigg_ for near daily updates and an idea of what is happening with me and the sweet pups.
On a more personal note:
Since my last campaign, I have learned so much about the pleasure of using fine pens. I had previously been viewing my pens from a craft person's perspective only.
I have even become a fountain pen enthusiast. This shift is thanks to a hand written letter sent to me by Paula, one of my backers. She wrote me a letter with her Apex fountain pen. Not only was it amazing to receive an actual letter, but it had a certain quality that is hard to describe. I loved the look of the ink on the page and her ability to customize the ink color. (She chose a lovely orange.)
Paula called fountain pen collecting a "hobby". That gave me a different perspective. I hadn't considered that before. I now count myself among the pen collectors (although my collection is still small.)
The feel of writing with a fountain pen is unique and I highly recommend it. There is something comforting about slowing down a little and appreciating the finer things.
If this interests you, please know that there is a huge pen collector community out there full of really nice people. I had no idea. There are several on facebook and many collectors on Instagram as well.
I am a graduate of art school and have worked in many disciplines over the years including illustration, fine bookbinding and woodworking. I have been a woodworker since 2003 and love it more each year. It is a passion and a blessing in my life.
I specialize in small items such as boxes, cutting boards, carved spoons, turned pens, and wooden bowls.
I live in Rochester NY with my two sweet dogs. This business is a one woman operation. Your support goes directly toward keeping my life moving forward. It puts food on the table and kibble in the bowl.
About last time:
The first campaign was so much more than I had expected. It was great fun, learning, community, hard work, true support both energetically and financially. It was one amazing ride! I loved every part of the process.
I enjoyed sending out weekly updates with progress pics and also responding to messages and comments. Working in production was so much more efficient and meditative than making a few pens here and there. The kickstarter format is my favorite way to work.

The kindness of the people with whom I had the pleasure of interacting was far beyond what I had hoped for. I was truly humbled. I look forward to making new acquaintances and connections with people in this project.
Thank you for taking the time to look, read and consider your participation in this campaign. This has already been a lot of fun for me!

Risks and challenges
Every investment comes with risks but in this case I believe them to be quite low. I have the equipment and the wood necessary to fulfill every reward. I have a great supplier for all of the hardware.
I think even if I get 300 backers I can ship by September. If somehow a force of nature swoops in and more backers than that pledge, I will keep you updated on exactly what is going on.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
