About this project
For those having trouble donating here, we apologise that the site takes a little time and asks people to register before donating. The plus side is that Kickstarter is the safest "Crowdfunding" page and your credit card details are 100% secure - plus if we don't reach our goal Kickstarter will not take any money from you. Thanks everyone!
Black Train Films are making a documentary about an inspirational group of disabled and non-disabled cyclists who call themselves the “Pirates Team.”
A truly inspiring film, with people of all ages and abilities coexisting without barriers and with the same purpose: to push themselves to the limit and to take on life’s challenges.
As a final surprise, alongside all the “Pirates”, world-famous cyclist Miguel Induráin stars in the film, which he has supported from the very beginning.
One of our protagonists, Juanjo Méndez, lost both his left leg and arm in a traffic accident twenty years ago. After taking up cycling he is now a World Cycling champion and a Paralympics medallist.
Worldwide interest through our website has made us realise that we have an International project with a message that transcends frontiers.
We already have the support of TV3 in Spain. They have bought the broadcasting rights for Catalonia and we have one international company supporting us, but we need more sponsors and patrons right now.
We desperately need more financing for the post production process - mainly for music and editing, which are essential for the final result to attain the high standards this film and its protagonists deserve.
Our "Kickstarter" target of £10k is at the lower end of what we need, so the more contributions we receive, the better the film will be. Please spread the word and forward a link to this site to your friends. Time is running out!
We are working around the clock to make this project happen but we need your help to finish this film. The money we raise will be used for post-production: to pay for the edit, the music, the effects, the copyrighted material, etc.
Please be assured that your donation will go directly towards making this documentary film a reality. Black Train Films are not taking any profit from this project.
We want this film to change the way the world sees people with disabilities and your donation will help achieve that. Please support us.
Risks and challenges
We plan to launch the movie around April 2013 so all the rewards should be fulfilled by the specified dates. However there is always the chance post-production might take longer than expected. If so, you might get the DVD or the credit or the invitation to the premiere or whatever reward we have committed to a little later.
We do commit to fulfill all rewards within two months of having finished the post-production for the movie. As to this date, everything is going to plan and if we get the final push with your help we are confident all rewards will be sent on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
