Paparazzi is a simple yet competitive arcade-style game of cat-and-mouse, a test of your focus and reflexes, and a satire of celebrity culture.
Right now, Paparazzi is solid small game with a proven mechanic--it was even shown at the Indiecade @ E3 showcase--but we need help to take it even further. So watch the video, read all about our campaign below, and donate!

HERE'S OUR GAME:
The celebrity must escape to their limo with a shred of dignity remaining. They've got to dash behind buildings and crowds and collect the praise of adoring fans if their dignity dives too low.
The paparazzi must capture photos of the celebrity in order to make money. Chase the celebrity around the level with your camera reticle, unmercifully snapping pictures when they're in the open.
It's frantic yet simple--you'll dash and click at lightning speeds to keep up with each other. It's competitive--every round goes down to the wire and it hinges upon on who is faster and shiftier. And it's silly--whether you're diving behind a DJ booth or letting your celebrity mullet fly in the wind, we promise to try and make you chuckle.
HERE'S OUR GOALS:
Paparazzi is currently a local multiplayer experience with two one-minute levels. It's pretty replayable already, and we feel like we've proven the concept to all of our current players and supporters, but we want to make it an even bigger game.
We want to take to Paparazzi to the streets. The internet streets. In order to do that, we need to add real-time networked play so celebrity and paparazzi can go at it from separate computers. Play quick games online with your friends or with matched strangers! Make your way onto online leaderboards!
We want celebrities and paparazzi to be able to duel in a number of arenas. Right now, we've only got the basic "Townsquare City" and the thumping "Danceclub Night Club." With your support, we'll be making 7 new levels, each with their own gameplay quirks.
We're in plans to add a red carpet premiere, a beach front, a mall, a grocery store, and even a late night dirty streets level (that's right, these celebrities have baggage).
NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTERS
As it stands, Paparazzi only features Garth Marshall, mulleted man-diva. While he is glamorous and a dream for man and woman alike, we want to provide a full range of celebrities for players to choose from. Like Gabrillion Eastboy, genius rapper extraordinaire, or Trixie Blue, manufactured pop star.
We've got plans for some more crazy features, which we'll reveal if we hit our goal early. Different game modes? Create-a-celebrity? Who knows. For now it's a secret.
HERE'S WHY WE NEED THE MONEY:
We're a small team of developers fully capable of making a solid standalone game--but we don't have the time or talent to make it a networked experience on our own. 75% of the money we make will be going toward hiring a network engineer and purchasing server space. It's our most important goal for release, and will use up most of our money.
Other small chunks will go towards festival submissions, release costs, contract artists, and reward fulfillment. Any extra money will be put toward further ensuring a quality product, by giving us more time to work.
HERE'S THE SPECIAL REWARDS:
Special Unlockable Character
Bear on a Tricycle is best known for her series of hit films: "Bear on a Trike," including "Bear on a Trike: Air Strike!" and "Bear on a Trike: Empire Trikes Back." Donate to this reward tier, and receive this limited Kickstarter edition celebrity as a playable character!
Paparazzi Sticker Set
The sticker set includes one large 6" by 6" rectangular sticker as well as three 2" circular stickers.
Celebrity Edition Box Set
The Celebrity Edition Box Set includes the previously mentioned sticker set, behind the scenes photos, a special written note from the developers, a CD & digital key for the soundtrack, and two digital keys for the game.
Design your own Character
Give us a description of a character (what they look like, what they're wearing, why they're a celebrity) and a name. We'll work with you and add the character as a playable celebrity!

Risks and challenges
Our biggest risk is currently getting the networked play going. We're in talks with a few friends of ours to do the engineering for it and we have a few mentors who are knowledgeable about the topic, but not knowing the ins and outs of it ourselves makes it feel a little bit up in the air.
We're devoted to getting it going, though, so we'll figure it out one way or another.
