***Take a look below for our story. We have a special Father's Day opportunity for the next 2 days June 16-17. One of our backers will match $1,000 if we can get 10 $100 pledges***
As you can see from the video, we have a wonderful opportunity here at Hemlock Hill Farm. In the last three years, we have seen a large growth supplying over a dozen new area restaurants with our organic chickens. Local chefs understand the importance of hormone and antibiotic free fresh meats. Providing dishes of locally grown food has developed an educational platform with the consumer. The community has longed for this unique relationship with their local farmer and the consumers dedication to local, fresh food and understanding where it comes from is what makes what we do essential!
Our farm store, located in the lower Hudson valley, has become increasingly busy.
People are very concerned with the state of our food system and have made it a priority to source locally grown meats in groceries and restaurants. As the demand grows we must grow to satisfy it.
In addition to supplying over a dozen local restaurants with our chickens over the last two years, our local customer base has also dramatically increased their purchase of chickens, hens, and eggs;
we currently process over 12,000 chickens a year and distribute across a 50 mile radius covering the lower Hudson Valley, Westchester County and even NYC!! Our location is truly unique, as customers in our populated geographic market can easily visit our farm and feel close to their sourcing of local fresh poultry. Our farm store is open 7 days a week, year-round!

To meet this growing demand, we have worked hard to utilize every existing physical structure on the farm. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed our main barn complex on the farm that was critical for our cattle hay and poultry operations. So, we will now build a more rational chicken coop that will have many up to date features for our free-range chickens, including larger indoor area to house a larger chicken cycle, lush outdoor pastures, and improved sunlight and wind protection.
This is where this fund raising project will play a critical role. Your support will build a chicken coop that will house 1,500+ baby chicks that become broilers and hens. We have a great location for the building and look forward to having all our supporters in this project visit their valuable contribution to our continued growth delivering great poultry products for our customers.
In addition to rebuilding a chicken coop lost in the fire, several additional buildings that were destroyed will need to be erected. These include a cattle feed barn on the site of the former building and an additional hay storage facility nearby. So when you visit the newly built chicken coop, you will also see these additional works at varying stages of completion.
In total, the build will help us catch up to the growth that we have seen over the last 1/2 decade, and better prepare us for continued growth in the ensuing years.
Risks and challenges
We are confident that construction will begin rapidly upon the completion of this funding. Nevertheless, ensuring that the coop's physical structure is erected rapidly will require land excavation and installation of necessary water/utility systems. Certainly, this will present challenges but we have many years of experience in both of these land management areas. In addition, we will need management diligence and some cooperation from mother nature. This in particular requires some luck. We will be working with people and firms having tremendous experience with chicken coops to ensure this project is completed in a timely fashion.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
